PowerBlock Large Column Dumbbell Stand

PowerBlock Large Column StandAs i state in my review of PowerBlocks (5 Stars) this is a must. Excellent product and very necessary.

I had previously purchased a set of weider core adjustable dumbells that came with their own stand. While the weider core stand was sturdy, it was a bit of a chore to put together (Inconvenient location of screws and nuts). I had no such trouble with this powerblock stand, which was very easy to assemble. The hardest part was perfectly aligning the stickers.

I imagine while it would be a great workout to leave your blocks on the floor, I much prefer having this sturdy stand to rest mine on.

I ordered this item and it shipped without issues or delays. So what do you actually get?

THE GOOD:

1. It comes in a large box and there is some assembly required. All the nut and bolts are included and an extra 2 sets spare (based on my order). This was reassuring as I really dislike and get rather nevrous when I need to assemble the finished product if parts are missing. None was missing. Instructions were clear and easy and it took approximately 10 mins to put together. The hardest part of the assembly is actually aligning the sticky pads on to the Power Block Stand itself.

2. Formerly I was using my staircase or a solid chair (with a towel) to place the Power Blocks when I was working out. The Power Block stand simply completes it. My home gym somehow feels "more complete" even though I was able to exercise with the Power Block dumbbells totally without the stand. The Power Block stand somehow "completes the package".

3. I really recommend the stand or equivalent simply as when you move to the heavier poundages, it''s a pain lifting from the ground (and one needs to care for their back to avoid back injury).

4. I am 5'' 6 inches. The stand is a perfect height for me but if you are a tall person you will find that the Stand is a bit lower for you from your centre of gravity and how you pick up the dumbells from it. It is a fixed height stand.

THE BAD (maybe):

1. The base is plastic, and the panels look a bit thin when I was assembling them. To be honest I was a tad bit concerned if it would hold my 2 x 90lb Power Blocks sufficiently. I do trust the Power Block brand and sure enough once assembled, and with the two 90Lb dumbells sitting on the stand it was strong enough. I RESERVE the right to test this out and revisit this review in approx. 2 months time and see how the stand holds it''s weight. The panels aere seriously only 2mm thick only and the pillar is hollow inside.

2. Placing the required adhesive stickers (both the Power Block logo stiocker but also the more important scratch resistant stickers for your PB Dumbells) needs care. Screw it up and you have misaligned funny looking placeholders on your stand.

Overall am happy with my purchase. No 2nd thoughts. Will revisit this review down the road in approx 2 months.

If you''re going to use powerblocks, get this thing. I used to have them on my nightstand. Bad angle for lifting them off. Also looked pretty lame. Now my place is starting to look like a gym, and I live in a studio, so its kind of funny.

I would say be careful with the grit stickers. I was chatting on the phone and not thinking. I thought there was just the one big sticker on each side, so I bent it to fit on the bottom. Then realized the little strips were for that, so not it looks a little dumb if you actually pay attention. Otherwise, its good.

Also, the branding sticker on the front could use some help in placement. There aren''t many things I get anal about, but putting on stickers can be one of them. Needs to be centered and balanced.
