Heavy Duty Gym Doorway Chin-up Pull-up Bar (Extreme Workout)

i thought i was upgrading when i got this new chin-up bar, as it has 2 more basic hand positions than my old one that i sold. what i don''t like about this is that it doesn''t feel nearly as solid as my old one. it creaks and groans a lot more when i have my full weight (190 lbs) on it. i''m really hoping it doesn''t break while i''m using it...cuz it''s gonna hurt falling to the floor!

if you''re in the market for a chin-up bar, i think i might take a pass and find something more solid and sturdy. the $20 sale price was right but not if it doesn''t last. i almost wish i had kept my old bar that had 2 basic grip positions instead of this one with 4.

edit: i think my last one that was much more solid and sturdy and didn''t creak and groan was an ''iron gym'' product (the basic model). i just looked and the fancier ''iron gym'' model with more grips, like this product, is about $15 more. it''s probably worth it, to be honest.

Alright I was a little worried about buying this and worried for my door mostly because I''m 260lb. I don''t like doing pull ups at the gym because they take a lot rest time for me since i''m pretty heavy and I like my workout quick. Anyway I bought it and it came today and I''m really happy about this pull up bar. I was pretty scared at first but then I said screw it and banged out 5 pull ups and to my surprise it held. I''m losing weight right now so I''ll probably be able to bang more out down the road but extremely happy.

Only con would be the outer handles at the end aren''t that secure so when I used them the bar bent a little since it doesn''t use the main bar for all its reinforcement. It still held my weight but I didn''t feel comfortable using it and they''re the hardest to do. But the all the other grips worked very well.

I use to have the iron gym one but relocated and decided to get another one and by spending $10 less than iron gym, was a big mistake. assembling was easy, shipping was perfect, no delays, but the thing bend after the first 8 pull ups i did. and i am only 143 pounds. note that it is rated for 300. that is 1/2 less????????? also it has a heavy chemical stink to it/good thing i am a Chernobyl child so i am amunned :)/

so if you don''t want another useless peace of fitness equipment sitting in you garage spend the extra $10 and save your self the disappointment

This product is very well designed and sturdy, would support me without much issue (150 pounds).

Unfortunately its designed for newer home/apartment doorframes/door ways. my older house doorways/frames have a very high 5+ inch molding over the doors that prevent this from securing properly.
