Marcy SB222 4-Position Utility Bench

Marcy SB222 4-Position Utility BenchI''m 5''11", 240 lb (but trying to lose.) I know a lot of people review these lower-end benches and discuss the size and stability. My take is that it''s adequate for me. Not super steady and slightly smaller than what would be ideal, but for the price I think it''s fine. I bench 50 lb and find that it rocks a bit more than I''d like, but it''s definitely not bad and I don''t feel that it''s dangerous just isn''t "rock" solid. I find as I lay on it I may have to slide a bit so that my body is on it just right that''s where it could stand to be just a bit bigger.

Ok, having said all that I really like it. I knew I wasn''t getting the perfect bench at this price. I think I definitely got what I paid for. I really like that it folds up as we don''t have a lot of room where we use it so we fold it up and put it against the wall when it''s not in use. I didn''t see any other bench, in this price range, that had that feature.

Putting it together was fine. The directions say you need one adjustable wrench, but there is a part where you actually need two (or a wrench + a socket) but I had the tools, so it wasn''t a big deal. The Allen wrenches that come with the bench are a bit soft and seem to strip if you aren''t careful. Again, I had some nicer ones, so no biggie. I was able to do it by myself without too much hassle, but I can see how two people might make the job a bit easier. You really have to get those screws tight if you want it to be as solid as possible, and it can be a tad awkward to stabilize and tighten at the same time with one person but like I said, I managed.

A final note on assembly. You will come to a point where the instructions will say one thing, and the photo on the outside of the box will contradict it. This is the part where you''re placing the pivoting screw and the removable pin. Follow the directions NOT the photo on the box. The people they hired for the photos did not assemble it correctly and that bench won''t fold up! Kind of funny, but anyway, don''t think you''re crazy when you notice the difference.

So yeah, is it the perfect bench, rock-solid, plenty big? No. But does it do the job, accommodate all of my exercises, and feel like a great bench for the money? Yes. I have no regrets.

With 100 lb. dumbbells this bench can easily hold the 350 lbs handed to it. Had a Marcy bench before and had zero problems. So far this one is also working out like a charm.

This bench really stands alone for its cost. It''s easy to assemble, sturdy, looks good, and versatile. The box arrives beat to hell but fortunately it''s packed well.

The only downside is that it''s not very tall so if you''re trying to do an incline of any sort, you won''t be able to rest your head back. That may/may not be important to you (kind of a pain, IMO).

Completley awesome. I give it a 5 star rating especially since installation was very SIMPLE. This bench is sturdy, and comfy. I weight at 150 5''7 and was pushing 2x50pds dumbells for chest press, flat, decline, incline so that is 250pds on the bench. No shakes, no wobbles. Perfect. Also excellent for abs workout as well. I highly recommend this bench to anyone. ALSO, let me mention, it is VERY VERY COMPACT and there is a latch you can pop out and it folds for storage. AMAZING!

I purchased this bench to use with Bodylastic bands and dumbbells and am very pleased with the quality and it was very affordable. The fact that is it both adjustable makes it very versatile during workouts and that it collapses down for easy storage is a plus as well. It seem very durable and sturdy, I am 6'' and 350lbs and it works fine for me though what the other reviews have said about the size is true, it is probably best for people 5''10'' or smaller but still adequate for larger people.

Putting the bench together was simple enough though time consuming to do alone but still not difficult. If you are on a budget but still want a quality product, look no further.
