Island Girl - Dance Fitness Workout for Beginners - Basic Hula with Kili
  • Great beginners workout

I don''t get the slamming review I didn''t think it was the best workout DVD, or best workout ever but I enjoyed it just fine. This is a good DVD to start on if you''re interested in dance style based workout and you haven''t done any aerobics in a while. For instance, if you''ve been desk-bound for 3 months, diving into a Zumba class may leave you panting, but this is a good DVD to start out with to get back into and work your way up to a faster, possibly higher impact dance style workout DVD or class. I found this when trying out belly dancing workouts years ago, and thought this was interesting if you learn both styles they''re actually totally different in the way you(''re supposed to) move to pull of the steps.

I found this to be a great workout for calves, thighs and butt a slow, long burn type as long as you stay as crouched as you are supposed to to get the fluid hip movement. If you''re going to cheat the moves and stand straight, yeah you''re not going to get much of a muscle workout.

Even when doing regularly doing high-impact, high energy workouts, I liked to pop this in on my ''off'' impact days to get some good stretching, fluid movements and a light workout while trying to loosen/rest a hurting knee.

Yeah, the music is not traditional Hawaiian style hula music. Sounds more electronic. Wherever she filmed it (outdoors) is a beautiful backdrop.

Not hula, not hula music. Traditional hula steps mixed with jive!!!! Not what I wanted at all. Some kind of jive/rockabilly music and swing/jive/rock steps mixed with traditional hula moves. OK if you like that sort of thing I guess, but why does the box not say "Hula Rock", which is what she calls it in the video?? "Hula Buns and Abs" is much better, nice traditional beats and all traditional moves.
