Spinervals Virtual Reality Series Vol 4 - Madison, WI Training Ride

This workout is tough -but that''s the point, right? I found it to be the perfect tool to help me with my training during days when I can''t get outside due to weather. Another reviewer mentioned the "getting lost" incident as a negative thing, but I feel that it adds to the reality of the entire program. It wasn''t edited for a reason -because this workout is the real deal. Great for those in training, or for those who simply want a solid home workout.

This has been a long and brutal Wisconsin winter and this DVD made it a lot more enjoyable. I have spent many hours on the trainer watching this and other Spinerval Virtual Reality Series DVDs.This DVD depicts a real Wisconsin Bike ride. Traffic, obnoxious drivers, potholes, dog attacks, and yes, even getting lost, are all part of the reality of biking. But, most importantly, it depicts the enjoyment of a group ride through beautiful countryside. Whether I''m following Troy''s instructions for gearing or doing my own heart rate monitor training, this DVD gives me a great workout. I''ll be ordering his newer Virtual Reality DVDs soon. And when the snow melts, I''ll be hitting the roads in great shape.

I received a Spinervals DVD when I purchased my indoor trainer. I enjoyed that so I was looking for something longer than an hour. I was hesitant when I read the review about how amateur the presentation looked but since I had a positive experience with another of this series, and since another reviewer liked the spontaneity of the DVD, I decided to take a chance. I''m glad that I did. I get a really good workout. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I love riding to videos when stuck indoors. This one was just mediocre. Global Rides are much better even though the camera shots are at times jittery, out of focus or rain covered. Maybe it is just the more unique locations. Given the choice, i"d save your money and buy a different one of this series or another all together.

I bought this DVD with confidence, thinking that it would provide a quality workout and a nice reminder of the IM WI bike course. Yikes, was I wrong. The DVD follows four riders two with helmet cams, and a car following as they undertake one loop of the two loop course. Within 10 minutes of the ride, Troy announces that the group is lost and they need to turn around. Are you kidding me?! You couldn''t have edited that part out? Or start again? Very amateurish, and a huge distraction. The remainder of the dvd is pretty bland Troy does provide some gearing advice, to help re-create the ride at home, but his commentary is otherwise uninspired. On the whole, I felt pretty ripped-off. Good idea, but poor execution.
