Power Systems Versa-Loop Resistance BandMy doctor diagnosed me with bad knees last month and recommended that I go through physical therapy to strengthen them. I became very acquainted with resistance bands during my therapy and decided to get some of my own. These bands are great for beginners since they come with instructions on suggested workouts. About half of the suggested workouts are similar to those I learned during physical therapy. In hindsight, I probably could have skipped the physical therapy and just bought some of these resistance bands and gotten similar results; however, physical therapy provided professional instruction, feedback, and motivation that were worth the cost. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:

-Professional-level quality resistance bands (same as those used by physical therapists)

-Accomplishes many different workouts with no expensive or space hogging equipment

-Includes instructions on suggested lowerand upper-body workouts (I have only used the lower body workouts, but both look good)

Cons:

-Bands are sold individually (would be nice just to buy a complete set in one package)

-Resistance bands, in general, can irritate skin (espcially skin with hair on it) so be sure to place bands on clothing (or shave your legs)

I have a hard time thinking of more cons, since these bands work so great. I give these bands only four stars, since you have to buy them individually, and I think some competitors sell them in sets. However, these bands come with instructions and quality that make up for this drawback. I actually have two sets of these bands, one at home and one at work, so as to be able to squeeze in a quick workout whenever I need to. Overall, these are a great choice.

I have also purchased a Schwinn AD2 Airdyne Exercise Bike, a couple of Stamina 15-0120 InStride Cycle XL (one for the office and one for home), and a pair of Valeo Adjustable Ankle or Wrist Weights for leg workouts. I consider them to constitute a complete strength-training program targeting my knees.

These are the bands my boot camp trainer uses. Give my legs a great workout whenever I use them.

One of my sculpt classes uses this exact loop, so I bought one for home use. otherwise, it would have been trial and error before i found the right resistance for me.

I bought the "heavy" primarily for lower body exercises. In my opinion, heavy is perfect for clamshell exercises and its variations.

If wrapped around the ankles, I''d have both heavy and medium available.

I also love this loop for use with the Beachbody Brazilian Butt "bum bum" workout, specifically the "high and tight" DVD. However, while I can do the standing work (loop wrapped around ankles) with heavy, I''d prefer medium for those particular moves.
