Gold''s Gym 65 cm Stay Ball

Gold''s Gym 65 cm Stay BallCan''t really say anything about it''s durability yet. Some people are complaining about the pump. Yes, it''s not a great pump but it took me about 20 min to pump up. Not 1 or 2 hours like some people are saying. But I work on computers and lift and carry them up and down stairs. I lift heavy objects at work. I''ve been told I''m a bit stronger than the average female. A little speed pumping actually ended being the first mini workout related to this ball. I may have to pump it more later since I can''t find a tape measure so I made sure I didn''t over pump it. First impression is that it seems comfortable. I''m actually using it as a computer chair replacement. I was in a car accident some time ago and even though I had several months of chiropractic treatments I still get achy in my lower back. I figured for $20 at Walmart what did I have to lose. Plus some say that using these instead of a chair is good for the back AND to burn extra calories I figure I could use that too. I sit at the computer all day for work some days so anytime I can burn a few extra calories that''s good.

We bought this ball at Walmart because I needed a birthing ball. Needless to say it took only about 1 week for the ball to get a hole in it. Let me mention that as a pregnant woman I weight in at 178lbs. (far below the 250lb. limit) and I don''t "bounce" on it or even do anything physically demanding with it: I sit on it as I sit at the table and have dinner or work on the computer. I can''t imagine how short a time this ball would have fared if doing exercises with it. Also, the pump NEVER worked, my husband had to use all his lung strength to get it blown up. It was a great ball while it lasted and the weighted sand helped keep the ball in place, but a different brand is probably the better way to go.

I''ve had the ball inflated for nearly a year. It took me about eleven months of staring at it before I started using it. I use it mainly as a chair in my TV room. I''ve also began using it while doing some resistance training.

I''ve seen reviews for this ball on other sites and people complain about the fact that it has sand in it to keep it from rolling around which makes it heavier than other balls. For me it''s not an issue but I haven''t done exercises requiring me to lift the ball.

The pump that comes with it isn''t the greatest and it does smell strongly for a while. Overall, I am very satisfied.

Well, this item has sure gotten some mixed reviews! How do you rate an item like this---well, I''ll try. First of all, don''t buy this item here. I got mine for 20 bucks at Wal-Mart. This is similar to the balls you''ll find at the gym. It is really hard work, this is no wussy "Ab machine" device you see on TV that promises minimal workout and maximum results (and doesn''t deliver). It has sand in the ball to keep it stable. That was fine with me. What wasn''t was the hand-held pump. It took me nearly two hours to pump that darn thing up! That sucked. But the ball has not deflated or burst so far and I''ve had it for several months. My stomach muscles ARE tighter, though I still have a ways to go yet. The trick is to use it RIGHT. Do your crunches slowly and hold that stomach in and breathe from your chest, not stomach. Also, use your STOMACH MUSCLES, not your head or shoulders. You should feel a slight ache in your ab area after a few crunches when you are doing it right.

Don''t use this ball if you are over 250 pounds (as the manufacturer says).

As for the included DVD, well, that''s the weak part of the package. I found the exercises included on it useless. Unless you are a complete beginner and out of shape you will likely have no use for the DVD. Maybe except for the stretching part of it, that really is hard!

I liked the ball and have been using it almost daily since I purchased it in early July, today the ball started to make a whining sound and 10 seconds later I was flat on the floor and the ball had an 18" split down the side perpendicular to the bands. I wish I still had the box, I''d contact the manufacturer.
