Update 09/22/12: Its been about 6 months of use and it is still holding up. It squeaks a little but that is expected after the use it is getting. Time to tighten things down and use some grease i guess.I received this machine on 5/30, and as of today, 7/27, I am still unable to use it. After turning it on the first time, the incline ramp went all the way up and it couldn''t be adjusted using the console. Proform customer svc sent a tech after I waited 2 weeks for a new motor. After installing the new motor, the tech found the motor wasn''t the problem, that it was actually the console. Proform refused to send a new console, saying the technician didn''t know it was the console for a fact, and sent new wiring for him to "try" instead. From this I can only gather Proform has little confidence in their own technicians'' capabilities, or they enjoy wasting their customers'' time. The tech installed new wiring on 7/20 and, and to our lack of surprise, it didn''t work. Proform customer service then allowed the tech to order a new console on 7/20 and now, after waiting a week for it, I am being told it was just shipped out on 7/26. I will probably not be able to use this machine until August, if it even works then. I''m so disgusted, and I can''t believe the lack of customer service on Proform''s part. If this console doesn''t work, I''m afraid the machine is going back and Proform has lost a customer for life. Save your money, don''t make the same mistake as me.

I just got it two days ago, delivered into my garage. I moved it into the house and assembled it today. The box it comes in is heavy so to move it with control, you will need two people with strong arms. In our case, one person with strong arms and the other person can push.
Accept that there is some assembly so take your time. It''s not hard. Attaching the foot pedals to the Pedal arms using the allen wrenches from beneath was probably the most tedious part. I wish allen wrenches could be ratcheted. Once you have to together, you know how to take it apart at the joints when you want to refresh the grease. I''ve read that with regular use, you want to do that every 6 months with these ellipticals. They send plenty of grease so you can just save that for later.
When assembled, it''s a good sized piece of equipment. All of the pieces feel tough and solid. It''s made for a pretty heavy person.
The electrical cord comes out the front. For us, it would have been nicer for it to come out of the back as we have the back close to a wall and the front comes out into the room.
After assembly, I jumped on it for 15 minutes with the default program. It was quiet, smooth, and felt as good as any elliptical machine at the fitness center. I turned on the fan that''s built into the control panel and it made a bit of noise as it blew air at me. Since everything else was so quiet, I wasn''t expecting that but it''s probably fine.

I purchased this Proform 18.0 RE Elliptical in August and it has really exceeded my expectations. It arrived on schedule by JB Hunt home delivery in one box. It took me about three hours to put it together, but that was because I wanted to be absolutely sure that everything was tight and grease. I didn''t want any squeeking or rattling of the machine when in use. It is very well built and very sturdy. I ran on it for a month now and its been smooth and quiet. What I really liked about this elliptical over the others was the smooth elliptical action. It didn''t bang on my knees or joints. The programs were very useful.Want ProForm 18.0 RE Rear Drive Elliptical Trainer Discount?
I have been researching ellipticals for the past 3 weeks since my old one finally bit the dust. I decided I was going to purchase the Proform 14.0 RE but came across a great deal at Sports Authority and got the 18.0 RE for the same price and I couldn''t pass it up(it appears I should have). I purchased it, brought it home and my husband and I assembled it in about 2.5 hours.Got on it and was ecstatic.. It was quiet and appeared to work perfectly and then it happened tried using the incline ramp and nothing.. It would move up or down.
Call the 1-800 # given and waited about 30 minutes before talking to someone. Turns out the incline module was damaged. They are sending me another one at no cost and a technician to install it.
Catch is.. I have to wait 3-5 days for the tech to contact me to set up a time and 7-10 days for the part to show up.
Even though I have to wait I am not going to give it a one or two star. I am going to give the company a chance to make it right.
Hope this helps.
