It''s important to recognize that this cannot and should not be the only form of exercise someone pursues. I''ve found it to be useful in the winter when it''s too cold or rainy to go outside. My pattern of use involves 40 minutes at a fairly rapid pace that yields, according to the counter, about 2,400 steps. Typically, I''ll use it 4 times per week in the winter, less in other seasons when it''s more enjoyable to get outside. Also, I''ve found that stepping while swinging light (3 lbs) weights adds to the amount of effort I expend. The stepper can be easily adjusted to provide varying degrees of resistance.
The construction is pretty sturdy, but requires periodic tightening of nuts near the front of the steps. Also, the bumpers at the rear of the steps wear out pretty quickly, but you can easily replace them by simply taping a large cabinet door bumper or some other piece of rubber or plastic to the base. This is my second Weider Mini Stepper. The first one last five months. I used it almost every day, so I figured I got significant value out of it and the five month window didn''t seem that unreasonable. I ordered a replacement and this one only lasted 42 days. I called the manufacturer and they are sending me a replacement, no questions asked.
I love the product and have seen results in the shape/strength of my legs. It''s small, portable, and usually works quite well. I''m hopeful the replacement will last longer. My big old Sears stairstepper finally died for good and I have one of these in Mexico so I decided to get one for here to see if I would like it full time. I have FMS & a bad back, so I need low impact. Yes you do have to work it longer to break a sweat but it works for me. I do 30-40 minutes and it raises my heart rate just fine. I haven''t used the resistance bands as I have other equipment. This is a solid, well built, quiet machine with not much that can break on it.
It is very good for balance because if you are not using the resistance cords you have nothing to hold on to. Great for seniors!(Please have the top of a chair near in case you do need to hold onto something) Sure it is not for everyone, but IT IS BETTER THAN DOING NOTHING if you are on a budget and can only workout indoors.
The only con is the foot pedals have rubber spikes in the arch area, and I prefer to workout bare foot. I just laid some socks over them.

Love it! I didn''t have the room in my home for big equipment so this was perfect!Same great excercise, compact size! I''m so glad someone came up with smaller equipment!Great the first time I used it. Broke on 2nd attempt. There is a heavy silver cable under the stepper which is used for the mechanism to move the pedals up and down. The wire came out of the circular wheel underneath and got stuck within the wheel and metal plate and already started to tear. I tired to get the wire out but it is jammed in there pretty good and this unit is now being sent back! Weider is well known brand and I expected alot better from them.
