I have only two issues. One, I wish they had done a better job of showing proper form for some of the excersises to help prevent strains and injury. Two, even my son thought that a comment made in the DVD, about the weight of one of the kids working out with the "workout kid", was a little mean.
Overall, I think it''s OK, but not great.I was looking for a workout dvd for my 12 year old son and checked out all that is out there. A lot of dvds out there are geared toward dancing, which I don''t think many boys are into. Also, I was looking for a dvd in which the instructor was a kid too. C.J. The Workout Kid fits the bill 100%. His workout covers all aspects of a good workout (warmup, cardio, strength training, cooldown) and has different stage workouts for beginners or more advanced. C.J. is a very good motivator and instructor and keeps the workouts fun. My son even got me to start working out with him to the dvd. I know I made the best choice when purchasing this dvd, and I can''t wait for the next volume to come out.

I am a PE teacher and really wanted something to get my kids introduced to exercises they could do at home and was entertaining. This one goes over well with my students because the instructor is a KID like them. It''s not an adult telling them how to do it. It is a great workout, even for adults. I do it with my classes to get my own workout in. It isn''t easy for beginners so we started out at 7 minutes and increases from there. It''s a great workout for kids. Wish the Workout Kid would make more.Want Workout Kid! The Premiere Kids Workout DVD By CJ The Workout Kid Discount?
got this for my nephew (10) for christmas. he''s into working out and got a kick out of this guy leading the work out session. We did it together the first time. I have to say, I started sweating during the warm up and I was quite winded towards the end. A lot of the moves are similiar to what I find on my Jillian Micheal dvds and such. Hi-knees, butt kicks, jump squats, planks, crunches, arnold presses (sans weights). You get a full body workout, a full warmup and full cool down. He does each move for 30-60secs each before moving on. The cues are right on. He even gives appropriate water breaks throughout. We both enjoyed the workout. CJ advises to do the workout every other day...My nephew is looking fwd to see what changes/strengths come to him during his off season (baseball).1/13 update: so we did the workout every other day for 2 weeks and moved up to level 2 on the dvd. level 2 was quite a workout. it''s tougher in that he goes a bit faster with the moves and does them for a bit longer. if you''re a parent doing this with you kids and using it as an addendum to your normal workout but want to make it more up to par with what you normally would do, it''s so easy to add weights to most of his moves. but even without, if you''re doing them 100%, you will get your sweat on. CJ is really fun with his moves, his cues are right on and the other 3 kids with him are fun to watch too. kids have so much damn energy! but it''s really fun to do with with my nephew and see his progression.
have to do level 2 for 3-4 weeks and will buy the next dvd which i assume have levels 3&4.
ps: after i wrote this, i went searching and there is no other dvd. i went to his website: and called them as well. seems there is no second dvd to compliment this one. so that being said. we''ll continue to do this the next month and move on to shaun t''s workout dvd for kids, which looks pretty good. but CJ has a fb page, so i''m gonna ''like'' it and see what info i can get bout if he''s got one in the making.
