SmartWool Microweight T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men''s

Smartwool NTS Microweight Tee Shirt - Men''s Silver Grey Heather XXLI read a blog post where a t-shirt connoisseur was extolling the magic of Merino wool shirts. He claimed that they''d last forever if cared for, and that they could be worn comfortably for days at a time without developing man odor. Being the curious type, I decided to investigate the $50 t-shirt.

I''m actually wearing it now, and it''s been in the rotation (of mostly black t-shirts) for a few weeks. The first thing I noticed was how much the shirt breathes; it''s comfortable and appropriately warm, yet my body heat seems to find its way out easily. The ol'' armpits, while slightly warmer, stay dry and cooler than in a cotton shirt, and I never feel like heat is just trapped against my skin. (Bear in mind I''m in Florida, and I''ve not had a chance to try this out in actual cold weather.) Because of this breathability, or maybe just Merino magic, the shirt really can make it for days without getting gross. My high score was a four-day stretch wherein I was outside a lot at the end. At that point, a faint but noticeable odor embedded itself into the shirt. I''ll remind you, dear reader, that I''m an already kind-of-sweaty guy currently living in Florida. Four days with any undershirt is fairly miraculous.

I''d scratch myself to death in a wool sweater, and to me this shirt has a very slight "wool effect." It''s not nearly enough to make it uncomfortable (it''s easily my favorite t-shirt now), but I can feel the difference between it and a cotton shirt. Given how anti-wool-sweater I am, I''m surprised that the shirt is as comfortable as it is. The flat seams are fine; I''ve never been bothered by normal seams, so all I really notice is that the stitching looks more dependable and a tad hardcore.

I plan on not stinking in this shirt for years. Only time will tell how this (gently washed) wool t-shirt will hold up to the standard cotton ones in the rotation. Hopefully I''ll remember to report back!

I liked this product. I bought it for a Christmas present, but since there were so many choices the person I bought it for showed me what they want. There was one downside to this product, it was that the T-shirt isn''t solid gray or anything, in is a t-shirt that has gray and white strips on it. From a distance, yes it does look gray but when you get close you can see the lines. I think that they should have close ups of the shirts because the person I bought it for wanted a solid gray t-shirt. This is probably the only downside.

I bought this shirt specifically to use as a base layer, and it works quite well. It is very comfortable, and is now my favorite shirt. The $65 price tag is definitely steep, but it is well worth it.

Absolutely love it. Fits normal. I machine wash and dry over a chair. Dries really fast. Not itchy at all. Not hot or too thin, seems to regulate a specific temperature just slightly warmer than a normal t-shirt. Really comfortable.

Have been wearing this regularly for a month or so now. It has been very cold and, since I am outside most of the day, I have been wearing one of these nearly every day. FIts well. Keeps me warm.
