Bottom line is that these shorts are high quality and comfortable and I have not found another pair of Biking shorts, at any price point, that I have owned that do the job better than these shorts do.
One additional note if you go directly to Aero Tech Designs website l and order these direct you will save 5 dollars over what you will pay by ordering them from Aero Tech Design through Amazon?I''m a heavier road bike rider ("Clydesdale"), but do ride longer distances pretty regularly (40-60 mi). I''ve tried Pearl Izumi (which are great shorts too, but seem to wear down faster, or at least faster than I would hope, given how expensive they are), Sugoi (my least favorite), and some other brands over the years I''ve been riding. These are my new favorite shorts. They are really comfortable, fit very well, and seem very well made. Try these out before you go for the more expensive brands. You might be pleasantly surprised. I was.

I''ve owned three of these shorts, for 1.5 months now. I love them.I think the "value" (what you get for your money) is fine: not a steal
& not a rip-off. There is no tag to scratch: the size/model info is
printed on the spandex on the inside. All seams are flat, quality sewn.
FIT: I''m 6''0" 158 lbs with a 32 3/4" waist. The "Large" size fits perfect,
everything snug. The "Medium" is recommended by website, but I''m sure
that would be too small & overstretched. The inseam is OK. I''m long
legged for 6''0", and could use another 1/2-1" on inseam.

I finally replaced my classic Hind cycling shorts I bought 19 years ago. I only bike 1/4 to 1/2 the year so they have 7 to 10 years use on them. I tried several different shorts and settled on the Black Pearl Bike short. I agree with M Tsol, when he wrote, Aero Tech Designs, "cannot be outdone with the black pearl crotch pad" and rated the mountain biking short which uses the same pad as the road short his number one short:The Black Pearl Bike short adds a little bit more padding than traditional shorts but not too much that it feels like a diaper. I tried the medium size Pearl Izumi Quest bike shorts and felt like they were over all too tight. The pad was too wide in the crotch and too thick, squeezed my boys, if you know what I''m talking about. I tried the Aero Tech Top Shelf short, which has a similar pad to the Quest, but it also did not fit my anatomy right. Also tried the Aero Tech Pro Cycling short which is a nice short with a thinner traditional pad, but I wanted just a bit more padding. All the Aero Tech shorts were well made and sewn right here in the good ol''USA. However, the Black Pearl short I decided to keep had a couple of seem flaws that looked like they had to be restitched. Possibly made by a rookie? The flaws don''t seem hurt the function of them.
I decided to do a short ride to try them out. Early in the ride, wasn''t sure about the pad running down the center under the crotch but once I got used to the feel, I loved the extra cushioning. I ended up riding a lot longer, either because these are great shorts or I haven''t had a new pair in 19 years and anything would feel better. I''ll give the nod to Aero Tech and the Black Pearl short.
I have a 31" waist and the medium fit me just about right, I don''t like very tight shorts, just snug and form fitting.

My husband has been cycling long distance for more than 35 years and he says these shorts I bought for him are his best ever! They fit beautifully and the leg hems don''t even HINT at rolling up. The pads are thick and appropriately positioned and they don''t shift. Great price, too! Apparently, a guy couldn''t ask for more!
