Stamina InStride Adjustable Height Cycle

Stamina InStride Adjustable Height CycleI just got a 40hr/week desk job. For two weeks I sat on my ass and felt like the biggest lump of lard. I needed someway to get a workout in while doing my daily job. However, I wasn''t about to conform to the standup desk crowd. This was the next viable option.

I love it. It fits under my desk, and I can literally cycle all day long. Burning hundreds of calories that I normally wouldn''t be at little to no exertion.

My one gripe is with the tension knob. After 5-10 minutes of cycling it slowly untwists about a quarter turn. This means after roughly 30 minutes of cycling the tension knob will have unwound one full turn. This creates a noticeable difference in the force required to pedal. It''s a minor inconvenience for the price of this product, and I am more than willing to put up with it.

I ordered this item to use for therapy after knee surgery. I really like it...it''s very sturdy and doesn''t slide around on the floor. The rubber feet keep it in place on rugs or bare floors. There is a tension knob to adjust foot pressure, but it doesn''t change the tension significantly. The pedals work very smoothly. The unit folds flat to slip under the couch or bed. Overall, a good investment and one I will use for years.

I love this. I can sit on the couch while watching tv and ride it. Put in on the floor and good to go. Then I put it on the table and work upper body.

Thinking about giving it to my dad who is in a wheelchair.

While I am on conference calls I sit and pedal with this product. It is easy to use and fairly silent.

I ordered this item because I wanted a compact & portable piece of exercise equipment that I could use in various locales around the house. I have a treadmill, but it sits where it sits, and the only thing I can do while on the treadmill is watch TV (which I hate....) What I liked about this item is that I could sit & work on my computer, or do other desk work, all the while pedaling away. The good news is that this little "cycle" is all of those things: I can easily flatten it down after using it, and stow it under the kitchen counter. I can put it up on a table or counter to work out my arms if I wish. I can carry it around the house with one hand & put it wherever I feel like using it. And it was cheap.

The bad news? It''s cheap. The tension is adjustable, but within a pretty limited range. If you tighten it up past a certain point, it squeaks intolerably. Do not buy this item if what you really need/want is a stationary bicycle -this is no substitute for a "real" bike. The mechanism does not always turn smoothly (despite being well-lubricated), so occasionally the pedals "stick" for a moment & require an extra push to get them moving again.

If you have realistic expectations for this item, and aren''t expecting it to get you into Olympics-ready condition, it is a very satisfactory little "cycle" for its under-$40 price. What I wanted it for was a way to get a little exercise & burn a few calories while doing otherwise-sedentary activities. I am pedaling it right now while I type this review! Note: elderly & mobility-impaired people would probably find this item very useful, as opposed to getting no exercise at all.
