Pearl Izumi Men''s Infinity Jacket

Pearl Izumi Men''s Infinity Jacket,Black,LargeGot this jacket before Fall hit here in the PACNW for running in the rain/cold. I didn''t want a full water proof jacket due to breath ability. Lets break it down:

Water Resistance:

What you would expect if not slightly better. Remember this is not water proof. If you plan on running for an hour in the rain your going to get wet. My runs are typically 20-30 minutes long. In a down poor this thing keeps me relatively dry up to the 30 minute mark. Up to that point its hard to diferentiate between whats sweat and whats water, so that''s a good sign. Once you pass the 30 minute mark you start to notice the wetness from the rain. Remember I live in the PACNW so I know what rain is.

Warmth:

I read this thing was no good for weather colder than 40... Hogwash. I guess it all depends on whether or not you run hot or cold normally. I tend to run warm, but I was able to use this Jacket and a long sleeve dry fit shirt in weather as cold as 20. It hasn''t gotten any colder than that up here yet this year so that''s as cold as I can safely say this is good for. Anything below 40 I just run with a long sleeve dry fit and have been fine. Anything from the 40-55 range I run with a short sleeve dry fit and usually end up unzipping it a bit mid way through the run. Anything above 55 and you will likely roast.

Style/Visibility/Fit:

This jacket offers great visibility. I run on roads that have no sidewalk/street lights and people don''t have a problem seeing me. I am 5''8 149lbs and a medium fits me perfectly. I have a long body and very broad shoulders. Arms are the perfect length. It is also incredibly light.

My only negative thing to say about this jacket is the hand sleeve thingies are worthless. If your hands get cold get gloves. These things are a gimmick.

Final thoughts:

If your looking for a light weight, water resistant jacket, look no further. Oh and you cant beat the price.

This is a very stylish Jacket. I love the look and fit but but it is very thin so I would recommend only using it in the spring, summer or fall. It is not suitable for temperatures below 40 degrees unless you intend to be well padded up.

I was looking for a good light-weight, non-bulky jacket to wear while running in the winter. This one caught my eye because it looks great and gets good reviews. Although I was a little concerned about the comments about it being too light for temperatures below 40 degrees, I decided to try it anyway. I''m glad I did because I have found that it is excellent for running in temperatures down to the low-20''s (maybe even lower, but I don''t like to run outdoors when temperatures get into the teens).

I just wear a long-sleeve dry fit shirt underneath with this jacket over the top and I''m ready to go. In extremely cold temperatures it can be a little chilly for the first 3 or 4 minutes, but then after my body warms up, the jacket''s excellent wind protection keeps me very warm. I generally find myself unzipping it a little to let out heat even in temperatures down in the upper 20''s. The jacket''s long arms extend well up on my gloves to prevent wind from coming in around the wrist area.

If you are looking for a jacket to keep you warm while you are participating in low-intensity activities in cold weather, this jacket probably won''t work for you. However, if you are a runner looking for a great looking, very comfortable, light-weight jacket that blocks the wind and takes the edge off of the cold while your body warms up, this jacket is an excellent choice. I couldn''t be more satisfied.
