Amber Sports Spring Chest Expander

The Amber Sports Spring Chest Expander is a decent product. My dad got his chest expander in college over 30 years ago and the technology has not changed. Unfortunately, the quality has though. His chest expander was made for a man. The handles were big enough to fit the hands into. The springs didn''t stretch out as soon as you used it and the clips to take on and off the spring were very simple. This chest expander has too small of handles, the springs stretched out the first time I used it, and the clips cut me twice trying to take off and the springs. I still use these springs but I was very amazed how 30 years can go by and the quality become worse.

This spring set is sub standard.... very disappointing. Definitely inferior to spring sets of the past. The handles are too small for a man''s hands. The attachment of the springs makes them catch when you first pick them up and when you are pulling them repetitively. I would have returned them but it was not worth the cost of shipping. They were thrown in the scrap metal pile to be recycled. I would have rated this product lower but -stars is not an option.

My old expander had a rod that ran between notched areas of the handles that pulled out easily releasing all the springs. It took only seconds to change the number of springs. This model uses a clip on each spring which when I''ve been working out and I''m really tired can be a real pain. They''re tedious even when I''m not tired.

Once the correct number of springs are in place it has quite a bit of tension and works fine for the exercises I''ve always used a chest pull for. The handles are smaller than the ones I''ve been used to as well.

For the price I think it''s a pretty good extra piece of equipment that is easy to carry around and use when not at home.

I have used chest expanders in the past. This model seems to have a tad less resistance, but it still gives a good work out. I use this to help with my physical therapy and the product does wonders for that purpose.
