Cathe Friedrich - Circuit Blast

Cathe Friedrich - Circuit BlastThis DVD, from Cathe''s Shock Cardio series, showcases Cathe at her best! This is an advanced workout, with nonstop cardio and circuits. All during this workout, I was gasping for air and yelling at the TV. It is definitely my kind of workout.

This is a 44 minute workout that has six rounds. Each round includes cardio, cardio/legs, compound exercise, and core.

What''s great about this workout:

**It''s intense and tough. Your heart rate stays elevated the whole time.

**Quick moves from one circuit to the next. I will never get bored with this workout.

**Upbeat music that makes you want to move.

**Cathe tells you what weights she''s using which is helpful.

**The premixes for when you want an even shorter workout. There''s a cardio-only option (23 minutes) and a scrambled eggs option (42 minutes).

Things to be mindful of in this workout:

**This is truly for the advanced exerciser. Cathe doesn''t give a lot of modifications. This is just fine for me since I love intense, advanced exercises. For those not as advanced, you should watch this a few times and have your own modifications in mind before attempting the workout.

**A lot of equipment is used: a step with four risers, two medium dumbbells, one heavier dumbbell, a med ball and a mat. This is not an issue for me since I have all this equipment, but it might be for others.

I highly recommend this DVD for anyone wanting a tough and fun circuit training workout.

Another great video by Cathe. At first I thought it might be too bouncy, but was glad to see that there wasn''t too much bouncing around. A lot of plyometric stuff, which is easier on the legs somehow than the shuffle bouncing. The static jumps onto the step (called a platform in this instance) were too difficult for me, as the step had FOUR risers on each side! (you will need to have 4 extra risers than the 4 which come with the step. This was not an issue for me since I had purchased a high step from Amazon for two of Cathe''s other workouts). You can modify these and other too difficult moves if necessary (and it was necessary). :) I will do this workout when I have a good amount of energy, want to be slaughtered, but only have 45 minutes. You need a fair amount of equipment for this one (step, extra risers, band, ball, weights) so this is a Cathe video for those who are invested in working out at home.

Cathe has harder workouts out there. Like butts and guts and her high reps. I thought this one was a little on the light side for what she normally has. I was sweating at the end but did not have the mussel fatigue I usually get with her workouts. Most people can do this with the modifications she provides. I am fit and I look for workouts that push me. This one didn''t. I would recommend her Hiit workout for something similar with more of a punch.

I''ve had this DVD for awhile now, but it is one of her best newer ones. Not as challanging as her other ones. Even tho she does use some weights in this one, do not count this as a solid "weight training"..even tho she does use some heavier lbs in some small segments, it is more like a circuit "lite" toning with more cardio..so to me, this is a workout that I use mainly as a cardio workout (with lite toning). It shows this workout is about 40 -something min, but it seemed a bit shorter to me. But again, that is ok, since I again--use this for a cardio interval training workout. :)

The moves are interesting, and non-boring at all. She does a lot of different moves in this one. One thing about her jumping up on the high step..I only did that with 2 or 3 risers...so don''t be rushed to jump too high if you are new to doing it..infact, subsatuting by doing normal high plyos works just fine.

The music is good and upbeat. Cathe is positive and upbeat as well. I thought that this workout would be easier for me, but it wasn''t! Cathe challenged me....as always! I am glad I made this purchase and it came in the mail before its due date.
