if you cant find a local instructor buy the video or dvd to learn how to roll your entire body...what you spend on this will pay for itself in all the treatments you will prevent yourself from needing. i can not say enough. i have yet to meet her but Yamuna is a genius/healer. you can find some video on y o u t u b e to demonstrate how to use this but i highly recommend her videos or an instructor (it only takes once or twice to learn it all).I purchased the Yamuna Ball and DVD after having many friends tell me they loved it. As a physical therapist, I recommend it to my patients all the time. It not only helps to self-treat fascial restrictions but also works on core strength. I absolutely love it!

OK this is a rave review. I have worked with "the silver ball" since 2010. I was introduced to it at Define Body and Mind studio in Houston, TX. If you can find a certified instructor to take you through it I recommend it. (I saw the two-star review and if that person had the benefit of training I think the review would have been better.)This ball was designed to "roll out" muscle groups and stretch the fascia, the tissue that wraps around muscle. Many call it "self massage". The ball is strong enough to take a lot of weight, but pliable enough that it does not hurt the muscle. NOTE: the first couple of times you do use the ball and your body is tight it may be a bit painful. Hang in there your body will adjust and it does get better.
Anytime I travel on a plane I use the ball to help stretch out my muscles after the flight. I have a desk job if I am sitting too long I go home and use the ball. If I have missed yoga class and need ab work I use the ball which does help provide strength training benefits, too. This ball does a great job of loosening up tight muscles and not just the big muscle groups, like glutes and quads. Done right I have used it to help relax my jaw and relieve headache pain due to a tight neck.
This ball is versatile, portable and, in my opinion, the best money spent on a practice to help sustain and improve your health.
