Rubberbanditz 41 inch Continuous Loop Pull Up Assistance

Rubberbanditz Pull Up / Crossfit Band - Power - 50 - 120 lbs. ResistanceI ordered two different bands to help me with pullups and overall back strength. The bands are strong/sturdy and easy to use. I received them within a couple of days in spite of the fact that I provided the wrong shipping address. The seller responded to my emails promptly and promptly forwarded the bands to my new address at no additional charge. Thanks for a great product and great service.

The product itself is excellent, but these are the exact same bands sold by Body Bands and a number of other companies.

So, what''s the problem?

Simple: Rubberbanditz sells them for nearly double the price of Body Bands.

Don''t waste your money: Get the same product for half the price.

Your intelligent use of the free market will force over-priced retailers to either 1) lower their prices to be competitive with the best deals on the market or 2) close their doors.

Spend your money wisely. I almost bought these because they''re what my friends have, but then I saw the body bands and ordered the 1-4 set for $59 dollars.

Go ahead and compare the price, it''s all right here on Amazon.

This band (i bought the green) is great for pull-ups and it even came with its own DVD, it tells you how to use it and what workouts you can try.

If your worried about weight this thing can hold and resist at least 200lbs. Or if you think you are weaker go for the strong blue or monster black.

I''ll end up buying a lighter resistance to continue to test my pull-ups until i feel comfortable letting go of assisted pull-ups

Pro''s

-strong resistance with color coded levels

-great for resistance training

-Comes with an instructional DVD for working out in small rooms or spaces

Con''s

-limited to only certain colors for certain resistance

-it will wear and tear but in about a year or 2....But i have had mine for 1 month and is still in great condition

I have a Kettler Favorit rower, and was looking for a band product that would allow me to be more efficient in changing the workout resistance levels. I tried using tube bands and the clipping and un-clipping was not meeting the challenge. I researched this product and the many resistance levels drew me in (40lb to 80lb). I''m now able to move the rower back and increase the resistance level in a range from 40lb to 80lb in a snap. I''m very impressed with the quality and flexible performance of this band.

Great product works great. I could already do 5 pullups unassisted, with the band the 9th and 10th reps are a struggle. If you can not do any pullups I would suggest a heavier band.

Pearl iZUMi Men''s Select Sleeveless Triathlon Tri Jersey

Pearl iZUMi Men''s Select Sleeveless Triathlon Tri Jersey,Fiery Red/White,SmallI have just finished 2nd tri with this jersey (black color) and I feel that it has more drag in the pool that I would like. Next tri I am swimming without it. I am right on the line between large and medium and maybe if I ordered medium it would be better.

For bike and run part I think is great. It dries quickly and there is little to no chafing (chest area). Overall good buy and I have dramatically improved my T1 and T2 times.

3 FIT CORD Covered Resistance Bands with PADDED HANDLES

3 FIT CORD Covered Resistance Bands with PADDED HANDLES, NYLON SAFETY SLEEVE & PREMIUM LATEX EXERCISE TUBE ** 1 LIGHT, 1 MEDIUM & 1 HEAVY RESISTANCE & DOOR ANCHOR **I got these to replace old rubber cords which had begun to flake. These are so much nicer! The fabric cover really makes a difference to the comfort of them moving over your skin during some exercises. The handles are set at an angle and I noticed quickly that if you assign a left and right side, it makes them much easier to handle.

Only complaint is that the resistance is a little bit light, I guess I should have bought the heaviest version instead of the med/heavy.

These are pretty much everything you expect them to be. I purchased them for P90X like so many of the customers, but I had an issue that I didn''t see in the other reviews: the limited movement. I, like many of you, bought these in response to my fear of a heavy-resistance cord snapping, and neatly bisecting me into two out-of-shape pieces. So, the sheath around the band provides a great deal of reassurance that I''ll remain one intact person by the end of my workout. The sheaths, however, don''t have enough "slack". I constantly found myself not being able to complete say, a curl, because the sheathing would prevent me from stretching the band further. The sheathing is inflexible, so if you''ve pinched it with your foot, you have to constantly readjust in order to be able to have a full range of motion. So it''s a trade off: work out properly and risk facing that fateful day of the snap heard round the world, or work out safely but half-assed.

These cords give you choices of resistance with cover sleeves. Should last a long time.

Theragear Pilates Mini Ball, Purple, 9 Inch

Theragear Pilates Mini Ball, Purple, 9 InchI was told several years ago to do crunchs for the never ending lower back pain that I have been experiencing for years. Well doing crunches flat on the floor was very uncomfortable, which made it harder for me to want to do them. Then I found the pilates ball, and all the neck strain that goes with regular crunches does not exisit when doing crunches with the ball just below the curve of the lower back.

I am very satisfied with my purchase. This 9" ball is the right size for doing crunches comfortably. The ball is made out of a material that sticks to the floor and doesn''t roll around) as you workout. This product was priced well and delivered quickly.

Buy Theragear Pilates Mini Ball, Purple, 9 Inch Now

This ball is great. I had relatively strong abs but not really any definition. I need to do at least 100 situps before I can feel the burn and that takes a lot of time and is uncomfortable. With the ball I do less sit-ups and my abs are becoming more defined. I don''t use it all the time so I can''t attest to weight loss, but it does work well on your abs for definition.

I thought it was hype. Well, I was wrong! Had and used product less than a week & I can see, plus, feel the results. I weighed 250#, plus, I have lower back problems and I could use the ball. I couldn''t do my normal sets of 25 crunchs with the ball, so I broke them down into sets of 10.

My wife likes the way my 6-pack is coming back, so she has taken to using the ball. In our book it''s keeper. Will probably buy another because this ball is getting so much use.

Update (5/10/09):

I still have the original ball. After awhile the mini ball will slowly lose air but I just pump it back up where it is comfortable for me. With the help of this mini ball, exercise & a relistic diet, I went from a 46" waist to a 38" waist. Seriously! My wife no longer uses the ball but when she did her waist started to shrink. Thank you.

Exactly what I expected! I''ve been using the ball with a daily exercise routine and have started to see results already in just a few weeks of use. I''m very pleased with the product quality, the price, and how quickly I received my order.

Pearl iZUMi Men''s Fly Thermal Top

Pearl iZUMi Men''s Fly Thermal Top,True Red,MediumReally warm and looks good.

Sleeves are longer than I expected but are nice since they go over my gloves.

Fabric stretches well so I can put more layers underneath.

I was hoping this top would make me a better biker but it does not, maybe some Air Jordan''s will.

I am a big Pearl Izumi products fan. This one is just an average thermal layer. Nothing special. Fits to size. If you find sale/discount prices it''s not a bad buy.I personally love the Pearl Izumi Men''s Ultra Thermal Top more technical/versatile and much better looking.

NCAA Georgia Bulldogs Mesh Shorts

NCAA Georgia Bulldogs Mesh Shorts, Large, RedI purchased these shorts for something for running and to knock around in. They''re light weight enough to not be bogged down by sweat, and so far, have held up quite well. They''re slightly lower quality than true lacrosse shorts, with a lighter mesh that doesn''t feel as durable, yet nothing has ripped or torn in the few months that I''ve been wearing them. I can''t complain for the price paid, and will probably buy a few more pairs to kick around in, though I''d still prefer some true lacrosse shorts with a little heavier weight to them.

PortaPocket Essentials, a Strap-on-the-body Carrying Case

PortaPocket Essentials, a Strap-on Carrying Case / Travel Wallet System, BlackI usually use my Portapocket at the gym for my I-pod, YMCA card, and ear buds. But it was also very useful when we went to Williamsburg, VA. I wore it around my calf under my slacks, and it held my phone, credit card, cash, hotel room key, and car keys. It was reassuring to know I could not lose those things! Anyone who commutes or travels or goes to the gym should get one of these.

I love this product, and knew I had to have it, the moment I heard about it. I was responding to the fabulous possibility of choosing to enjoy the convenience of a pocket regardless of what I was wearing. When I received my own porta pocket I was totally surprised by the quality and comfort of the actual product and just how much I enjoy using it.

In addition to being burdensome, handbags are fashion items and, quite frankly, I love them. They will always find a place in my wardrobe and, frequently be important to the look I wish to achieve and to the way I choose to present myself. However, now that I own a porta pocket, there are many times that I go out "hands free" and "handbag free" knowing that the things I truly need (phone, cash, credit card, key) are comfortably and securely with me, in my porta pocket. It is the best kind of freedom--freedom I obtained for myself.

Buy PortaPocket Essentials, a Strap-on-the-body Carrying Case Now

What a cool product! Since I''m not a skirt person, I wore the PortaPocket on my ankle. I usually wear nylon warmup pants when I''m traveling--no belt, elastic around the hems of each leg. That made me less paranoid about giving PortaPocket a try.

But I had no reason to be worried, the strap was nice and secure. I didn''t like wearing the larger pocket on my ankle, but it makes a great protective sleeve for my iPod touch in my backpack.

When I got to Salt Lake City, I unpacked and was going to put the cards from the PortaPocket back in my regular wallet when I discovered that the velcro from the pouch stuck to the inside of the pocket of my pants. That settled it for me, the PortaPocket is a winner! Now I need the big wallet to hold my passport on the overseas trips.

Stott Pilates Mini Stability Ball Workout DVD

Stott Pilates Mini Stability Ball Workout DVDI would have liked to have different levels, but it''s more for beginners. its a good cd though for beginners.

I feel like I have Moira right here with me as I do my exercise. This is a great DVD. The instructions are right where you need them. The timing is great. Gives you time to get into position and explains modifications which are always needed. WE are not all the size of the women they use in these videos so there have to be modifications for Bertha and Bubbles. Thank you Moira for continuing to produce much needed workouts for every body. Cathe Friedrich''s STS Shock Cardio: Step Moves DVD

Cathe Friedrich''s STS Shock Cardio: Step Moves DVDThis DVD is a big disappointment. I''m a huge fan of Cathe Friedrich and own every single one of her workouts. I pre-order on the first day of her sale, no matter what the workout. Cathe was one of the first instructors to offer advanced home workouts. Her STS Weight Series is one of the best advanced strength training programs out there.

That being said, I hated this workout. This is my least favorite of all the Shock Cardio workouts. But, I always try to find something positive to say about my favorite instructor.

What I liked:

**DVD production quality was excellent and up to Cathe''s usual high standards. There were no problems with the sound.

**the backdrop is nice to see. It''s the same one as the STS Strength Series, a loft-style room with views of New York City.

What I really disliked:

**the whiney, techno hip hop music. Cathe''s choice of workout music isn''t always great, but in previous workouts I could overlook the music because I was enjoying the workout so much. Not so with this workout.

**no fun factor. Even Cathe doesn''t look like she''s enjoying herself. She''s rather subdued. I miss her enthusiastic and friendly persona. I can only do about 20 minutes of this workout before giving up, because of this and the awful music.

**overly long warm up. A 9 minute warm-up is not needed for a 30 minute low intensity workout.

**no cool down. At the end of the Step section, Cathe says, "okay, stop the DVD and cool down for several minutes and then come back to join us for a stretch." No, I don''t think so. When I stop the DVD, it''s over. I would have much preferred a shorter warm-up, a shorter stretch and at least a few minutes of cool down.

**misleading workout description. It''s described as an advanced workout. I call this an intermediate one. I used 2 risers, instead of one and I still couldn''t get my heart rate into my aerobic zone. The choreography is complex, so I guess you could consider that advanced.

I recommend any of Cathe''s other Step DVDs over this one.

I only started step about two months ago and am slowly working my way up through Cathe''s step video''s. I really love this video. It took me several tries to work out all the moves, but once you learn them you can really work up a sweat. The video is 44 minutes from beginning to end, but it feels much less than that. Once you get past the warm up you''re done before you know it. I agree with some of the other posts though. This video I think is more intermediate than advanced. I have some of her other step video''s and I can''t even begin to do those yet. Yet....

Buy Cathe Friedrich''s STS Shock Cardio: Step Moves DVD Now

I would love to give this a five star review, but I can''t seem to get through the whole DVD before giving up. I wanted more challenging choreography, but I feel like I could try this for the rest of my life and never figure out the steps. I can''t work up a sweat because I spend my whole time watching, unable to catch on. I have watched it without doing the moves twice, and twice have tried stopping after each new move to try it over and over with no luck. It looks like it would be fun of I could figure it out! For now, I''ll have to do my usual workout in the morning, and, if I have time in the evening, keep trying this little by little.

She is simply the best. Choreography could be broken down and layered, especially because I "borrowed" some of it for my classes, and ny students appreciate the different options. She is never too complicated, and with a few runs, you will really be enjoying it!!

Perfect Pushup Counter

Perfect Pushup CounterI am in the military so I thought the perfect counter would be great to train for our 2 minute pushup drills. This product is anything but perfect. My perfect counter turns off in the middle of the 2 minutes. Also it doesn''t count every repetiton. My chest will hit the perfect counter and it won''t count that rep for some reason. It''s easier just to count yourself or have someone else count for you.

Positives:

-----------

1.) Great construction.

2.) Sensitive to light touch.

3.) Does enforce proper motion.

Negatives:

----------

1.) They got the counting functionality *ALL WRONG* making the device near useless.

When I stumbled upon this product browsing a sports store the other day, I was amazed at it and thought it could just be my perfect pushup buddy.

Using it however immediately killed that amazement.

My problem with doing pushups is that I lose count and engaging my not so interested girlfriend to count for me just amounts to her not counting loud enough, not counting at all, or knowingly giving the wrong count just to make me do more pushups than I intended. "Perfect Pushup Counter" to the rescue. Or so I though.

Now if you consider how most people approach pushups or how most people refer to pushups, it is one of the following:

1.) Your personal trainer or your team coach tells you to do XYZ pushups.

2.) You tell yourself to do XYZ pushups repeated in XYZ number of sets.

3.) You tell your friend that you can do 100 pushups and he tells you Bruce Lee could do 1000.

I am trying to relay to you, that what is interesting in pushups (or strength training in general) is the number of repetition ("reps") or the number of "reps" and "sets" combined. The point is, when you train pushups you commit to a number of pushups and the only thing you want to make sure, is that you REACH THAT NUMBER. Hence a natural and fair expectation of the "Perfect Pushup Counter" would be to:

A.) Count reps,

B.) Count sets and (keep reps in memory)

C.) Be able to set a goal of X reps and perform a countdown and then give a signal as the goal is reached.

"Perfect Pushup Counter" does nothing of the above (see explanation). The device DOES count pushups but it does not count downwards from a given number nor does it count up to a given goal. Instead it just counts. This might have been fine had you been able to read the count as you engage in pushups, but since the device is under your chest and the display is small, there is no way to know "where you are at" or how much is left.

Instead the "Perfect Pushup Counter" uses a configurable timer and you can assess (after set completion) how many reps you did within the time-frame set. This is mostly useless. I will tell you why. Counting pushups within a specific time scope is not good from a exercise perspective as it will only amounts to poorly executed repetitions and will build less muscle compared to performing the motion in a slower and controlled fashion.

Buy Perfect Pushup Counter Now

I purchased this on sale at a major sporting goods store for a slightly lower price. Once again I bought another heart breaker. I thought I was doing the perfect push ups with correct form and doing about 30 reps (I am an old guy and that isn''t bad). When I bought the counter and used it; it enforced a stricter style (much lower for each rep) and I am suddenly down to 16 on good days. But while my pride took a hit I believe I am getting better results with the lower push up. When I get it back up to 30 and beyond then it will be justifiably impressive.

Special Note: If you want to get maximum results from the perfect pushup/counter combo move it up to the midpoint in your chest well above the abs. If you drop it further toward your mid section your pushups won''t be as deep so your count will be more impressive but your results will be less so.

Update:

I have been using the perfect push-up device religously since the first review. I can now do over fifty without pause (and I can do multiple sets of 40 50) and my arms have an inch more girth (using the push ups and combined with an old school device called the powertwister). I even bought a second one for my den so I can do a few unscheduled push up sessions. Because I have had such great results I have raised the star rating from 4 to 5. And it has consistently dropped in price, because people don''t understand that it not only counts but it enforces form discipline. Buy it, and use it. It will help you immeasuarbly.

So, one day I was on Amazon buying something different; and, I saw this thing... I said, "sure.. whatever, it''s cheap!" I got it on-time, and packaged well. When I first opened this and examined it, I quickly realized I had crumpled up some cash and thrown it in the dumpster out-back. It''s a one dollar stop watch with a very small display window, housed in a rubber/plastic form, which presses the button on the stopwatch/counter whenever you depress the grey circle of rubber/plastic. I thought, "okay whatever." I used it for one day; and yes, it counted every time my chest/sternum depressed the grey circle-thing. The second day, I broke it somehow... how I do not know. Note, I can only do 50-60 push-ups in one set -so, it''s not like I wore this thing down... Anyway, it remained broke after close examination of the parts... and, then it went to the trash bin. I wasn''t going to the trouble of mailing this thing back to Amazon, for just a few bucks worth of refund. I advise you not to buy this.

Everlast Elite Adjustable Speedbag Platform

Everlast Elite Adjustable Speedbag PlatformLength:: 6:13 Mins

Video (I''ve added my punching progress video to see the platform and bag in action):

05:00 1 month punching progress

This is a great platform to start off with because of the great value. I was able to assemble it myself after buying the proper mounting hardware (see photos that I have added). Don''t expect IKEA-like instructions to show you step by step assembly, but if you were good with legos as a kid, you can look at the photos and video and figure it out. It really helps to have an impact drill to drive those large screws into the studs!

The platform comes with a U type swivel which is great for "Boxing" style speed bagging hitting from the front. If you are into "Bible" boxing as seen on this DVD: TITLE Speed Bag Bible (DVD), then you might want to consider a ball swivel or a higher grade swivel. I also bought the TITLE Speed Bag Bible (Book), but haven''t read it yet.

I am learning by trying one new technique each week because I think it is fun and challenging. I done a bit of MMA style fighting and speed bagging in general should help with your timing and upper arm strength to keep your arms up. But you''ll find that all kinds of folks from all ages; boys and girls, picking up this fun activity. If you search for the top Speed Bag forum online, you''ll find a community of really helpful people.

From a novice to another, I hope this video helps you make the decision of buying this platform.

Tips:

I used white lithium grease to reduce the squeaking of the swivel, just be sure to wipe off the excess.

Add a 50lb bag of play sand (less than $6 from your local hardware store) to dampen the noise.

Practice and get good with what you''ve got, you can upgrade the swivel or get a smaller bag when you improve.

Invest in a good bag, start off with a large one to help with timing.

Invest in good hand protection, missing a lot can cut up your hands with the wrong bag, and can discourage you. Buy M-Tape (at your local sports store), Everlast EverGel Hand Wraps,or properly use some Everlast Hand Wraps.

Great bag platform for the home gym!! I bought the "Elite" speedbag platform after reading the reviews and must say I''m glad I did. The Elite is a rock solid. You won''t loose speed or rhythm to the movement of a flimsy frame or board. Mine came with Everlast''s NEW style chrome plated Pro swivel that allows bag removal with the pulling of a simple cotter pin. (Not the hard to use old "Pro" style galvanized swivel with the chain link.) Coupled with a leather 4214 speed bag, this is one GREAT workout station!

I''d like to address some of the "issues" that that others have mentioned that might make you think twice about the Elite:

First, and obviously, you will need tools to assemble and install. A drill, drill bit, #2 Phillips head screw driver, tape measure, Torpedo (magnetic is a plus) level, and adjustable wrench will do the trick. These are all basic tools even if you live in an apt. If you don''t already own these, you should... These tools will be easy to find if you don''t want your own a tool kit.

Mounting Hardware: This unit comes with all the hardware needed EXCEPT the fasteners to mount the horizontal wood pieces to the wall. This is reasonable, since Everlast has no idea where you''ll hang your unit. Why add to the cost of the unit by adding a bunch of un-needed hardware? To mount through ½" drywall into wood studs, I used 4 ea 5/16" x 4" Lag Screws, and washers (Cost about $2.00 total at Lowes), plus a longer drill bit to pre-drill the wall studs for the Lag Screws ($5.00 at Lowe''s, but will go into my toolbox and be usable long after this project is done.) Lowe''s sales folks can help you decide which is the best hardware for your application.

I usually like to span 3 studs when hanging stuff, too, but this kit is set-up to attach to two, at 16". This is absolutely not a problem, my platform does not move what so ever.

Ceiling Height: I''m 6''1 and set mine about 4 inches down from an 8ft ceiling. I''m using the top setting, (bottom of the bag about mid nose height) so if you are much taller, you may want to hang a little higher.

Instructions: It really doesn''t need any... There are only 8 separate parts, plus fasteners. A simple look at the front of the box (or the Amazon product photo) will show you how every thing assembles. Just start by figuring how high your top wood needs to be and work your way down. Keep things plumb and level. Took my son and I about 1.5 hours to install, and we were clowning around much of the time.

All in all, this is the perfect set-up for my family and friends. I highly recommend this unit!

Buy Everlast Elite Adjustable Speedbag Platform Now

I installed the platform on two 2X4 boards secured very securely into my garage wall studs. This allowed for a very tight and secure installation. Initially the adjustable side of the rails seemed less secure than the opposite side, but with the hand adjustment knobs really cranked down the noise and rattle stopped. Great platform for my once or twice a week use. Nothing like a workout on the speed bag to rip your shoulders and arms. I needed a trip to the hardware store for the lag bolts (10), 2x4 boards cut longer than those supplied, a stud-finder, drill, ratchet set, and about 90 minutes to install by myself.

Read Best Reviews of Everlast Elite Adjustable Speedbag Platform Here

Just bought this. Have been speed bagging for about 10 years.

The good:

Rebounds are MUCH better than my previous speed/heavy bag combo stand.

Board is good quality and about 1.5 in thick.

Works well now that I have it up.

Adjustable height is a cool feature.

The bad:

4 knobs to tighten regularly if you want to adjust height, or keep platform from wobbling.

Swivel moves back and forth easily, but not side to side. This makes it easy to keep the bag straight, but is not what I am used to.

Had to mount the 2x4 at the joint of my wall and ceiling to have the bottom of the bag at jaw level on the highest adjustment.

Notes:

1. Heed the advice of posters here, and have the following on hand to hang this sucker:

* Four lag bolts 5/16ths that are 4in long, with washers

* Philips Screw Driver

* Drill bit to pre-drill the pilot holes for lag bolts

* Cordless drill

* Socket set

* Level

* dab of grease for the swivel

* Step ladder

* Utility knife & flat head screw driver to cut crown molding (you may not do this, but I did)

2. I put this up by myself (I am strong, and "handy" with tools & construction) in about 2.5 hours. I would recommend having someone to help you.

I have used this product personally in several different locations, and I have installed one myself. Since I have installed numerous speed bag wall units before I found no problem with this material, however you will need longer lag bolts and wall anchors. It''s best to put some wooden horizontal wall runners attached to span at least three studs on 16 inch centers then attach this to the wood runners, also drilling into the studs if possible. If you are NOT familiar with hanging heavier materials on walls, particular in a bedroom or "finished" location, get some help. But the average do-it-yourselfer should be able to get this up and punching in two or three hours max. If you want a rock solid easily adjustable wall unit for a great price this is a perfect selection. Properly hung it has very little vibration and shake and gives a nice consistent rebound.

The swivel supplied in mine was a chain link style, which has a small locking clip on the side. If you are not familiar with chain link speed bag swivels, it is a pain and I suggest you get retaining ring pliers to help make it easier. Personally I use a ballhook and drill the swivel holes all the way through the board to use bolts that extend out the top. This will insure the screws holding the swivel don''t rattle loose and strip the holes. The bag supplied is mediocre at best. Buy a professional higher quality bag. A Good bag together with this board you will get many hours of high quality speed bag punching for a super price.

Horizon Fitness RC-30 Recumbent Exercise Bike

Horizon Fitness RC-30 Recumbent Exercise BikeI shopped for several months and tried out lots of bikes including Golds Gym''s recumbent bikes.

I tried the R3 at Sam''s Club and knew it was perfect! I am a big guy at 292 pounds and over 6'' tall. I have had the bike for two months and with a low calorie diet have dropped 25 pounds so far!

I have had five right knee operations to date and my back was injured in a car accident two years ago which has greatly limited my exercise abililty. My doctor recommended a recumbent bike and I can ride this one for 45 minutes at 15 mph on the weight loss plus program.

Better than any of the more expensive bikes I tried at Gym X.

I have owned the Horizon RC 30 recumbent bike for about two months and I haven''t had any problems with it so far. This stationary bike is almost identical to those you find in any gym, except that it doesn''t have LED lights, but otherwise it performs in the same way. I am still trying to find the time to read the directions to operate the panel properly. I''m sure after I do that I''ll find it very easy to fine-tune each workout session. For now I just more or less decide whether I want an easy workout or a more challenging one by just seeing what happens on the panel when I push certain keys. Customer service was very helpful by providing me with the phone number of a couple of companies in my area that could assemble this item for a fee. It would have been virtually impossible for me to do the job myself as this item comes completely disassembled and it can be quite overwhelming.

The bike was easy to assemble, took a little over an hour. It has been running without issue since it arrived. the only downside is that the screen does not light up when its on and it can be difficult to see in low light, so don''t plan to be able to read the screen without overhead lights on. Over all this is a great bike.

I gave this two stars because of issues with the seat. the bike is fine overall. I use it daily for about an hour a day. You need to put a pillow or some sort of lower back support in the spot between the seat and where the back rest begins or your lower back will probably hurt. I bought a recumbent bike specifically for lower back support so a recumebent bike with no lower back support is frustrating. As for the mechanism to secure the seat in place, why they chose the seat mechanism that they did, I will never know. It is extremely annoying. Instead of just being able to slide the seat back and forth into into pinned holes, they have a tightening system that doesn''t really work unless you get lucky. You tighten the lever (which is supposed to turn a rubber piece into the metal bar below to secure the seat in place, but most of the time, the bike seat still moves. You have to loosen the lever, play with the rubber piece, rotating it with your hand and then keep trying to tighten the lever until you get lucky and the seat actually not only tightens but stays in place (the lever sometimes will tighten so you think it is secure, but then the seat will still slide). If you plan to move the seat regulary for multiple people in the family using, good luck. For $400 for a basic exercise bike, the seat should not have this problem. If you are the only one using the bike, and you don''t plan to ever adjust the seat again, you should not have a problem. There is also something in the back that rattles a bit, not sure what it is. I double-checked to make sure the bike was set up correctly and it is.

Otherwise bike moves fine, is solid. The set up wasn''t bad, took about two hours. The pieces in the box were light enough for me carry them by myself into the basement. All the pieces were in the kit and numbered in separate plastic bags to match up to the step you are on. The directions could have been more specific but not so bad that you can''t set it up.

I have been using this bike for the past 3 weeks. I have also previously owned a Schwinn 220, briefly. The bike takes on the order of 2 hours to put together. The tools provided are of high quality. A couple of the bolts had trouble going in. WD40 helped, somewhat. The instructions are easy to follow. The bike works as you would expect. It is quiet when in use. The seat is comfortable. The 8 resistance levels are more than adequate. I typically run it between 3 and 5. The included workout programs are just okay. The programming does not take into account your weight or age, the programs are hard-coded to a 30 minute workout time, and there is no cool down period. There are two custom programs available to help alleviate some of these issues. Still, I was a little disappointed with the lack of features on the console. I would recommend this bike to a friend. In comparison to the Schwinn, this bike has a better, smoother seat adjustment, they are equal as far as smoothness of operation of the wheel, and the Schwinn has a better, more customizable console. I feel the Horizon Fitness bike wins on build quality. I purchased two Shwinn bikes. I returned the first due to a broken electrical connecter and the second when the brake mechanism died after one day of use. I purchased the Horizon Fitness bike because it fit my needs, but also I did pay close attention to the warranty offered by bike manufacturers and I would recommend you do the same.

ASICS Men''s Core Pocketed Short

ASICS Men''s Core Pocketed Running Short,Iron,X-LargeIn looking for running shorts I have a couple of critical criteria that I look for. The shorts should have a good inner brief...not too tight but provides a bit of support. It should have a key pocket in the front that is just big enough to hold a single key and it should have a flap over the top to prevent it from jarring loose (real disaster to find that your car key found its way out somewhere on the last 10 miles of trail when you return...don''t ask it happened.). Fabric should be light weight to not weigh you down and the length shouldn''t constrict your running or prevent good air circulation to keep you cool. These shorts hit the mark on all of these items. They also boast slash side pockets that when empty you don''t even know they''re there. But give you a place to put your key ring and wallet when you hit the juice bar (or whatever) following your run....(don''t have to change shorts in your car!)

Longevity wise, time will tell. The brief elastic is a bit thin and is already beginning to loose it''s ability to return after about a year. I usually look to get 5+ years out of my shorts using them once per week and machine washing (drip dry). So far so good.

Hope this helps

These shorts are great for distance running. They''re lined for a comfortable fit yet the outer shell is baggy for a nice fit. The only thing I wish were different is that the pockets had zippers.

Excellent shorts, ultra light, inside liner leg holes are a bit large, could be smaller for a snugger fit, but overall excellent shorts. I should add that they handle sweat excellent, after working out and my cotton shirt is soaked, my shorts are still dry, it''s sort of freaky.

These are great running shorts.

Quick drying, and wicking.

Very comfortable.

The size seem to run a little small.

I am usually a medium and these are a bit tight.

I would go with a large next order.

My waist is 33", I am 6'' and 168 lbs.

I bought these for running as a balance between functional shorts (with standard side pockets) and performance (fabrics, liner). They worked out so well (and were such a great deal) that I bought another pair in a different color.

Icebreaker Women''s Rush 3/4 Tights

Icebreaker Women''s Rush 3/4 Tights, Cherub, X-LargeI''m a size 14 so I ordered up to the XL which are roomy and comfy and still stay up. I tried sleeping in them last night and they felt a little itchy but I''m hoping that after a wash that will go away. I wore them to Pilates and they were ideal. I''m looking forward to using them in the hot humid weather of the tropics since merino is king in wicking and Icebreaker is the best of the best.

these tights are everything I want them to be. I prefer wool year round and have worn these in 90 degree weather and in 30 degree weather (long socks in the cold). The tights fit true to size, and don''t bunch or chafe anywhere. I liked my first pair so much I bought a second pair.

update: The tights have done well to low 20''s. Icebreaker ski socks work well to keep me warm below the knee.

One thing, though anything of weight (like my phone) in the back pocket makes my tights slide down. I wear the mediums and am 64 inches tall and weigh about 130. I am built like the former sprinter I am. I do wear the tights "commando" so that may contribute to the sliding. I just use a spibelt for the phone and no worries.

Livestrong® LS10.0E Elliptical

Livestrong® LS10.0E EllipticalWhen I first got this several months ago, I was very happy with it, particularly with how quiet it was. I''ve used several brands of ellipticals and treadmills before, and this was the quietest of them all. I should also note that the difficulty range is higher than most others. With my old Diamondback or the Precor at work, I''m at least 80% up the difficulty scale; with this I''m at something more like 30%, which probably means even the very lowest difficulty wouldn''t work for other family members.

I quickly started to notice problems. First the bolt where the arm connects to the pedal just kept coming loose, so I had to become an expert at tightening it. Rust started appearing on the tracks, and I actually am careful about wiping the machine down so there''s no excuse for that (never had that problem with another machine). Then it started becoming noisier and noisier. At this point it''s barely tolerable even when I''m wearing earphones turned up fairly loud It sounds like the flywheel is wobbly, which probably isn''t fatal, but opening the case is practically impossible without special equipment and knowledge of where the internal catches etc. are so I can''t be sure. Now I''m trying to find someone local to service it, and that''s turning out to be a pain too.

Before I bought this I did some pretty exhaustive research, especially vs. Sole and Smooth which have nearly identical models at nearly identical price points (probably not a coincidence). This machine works, but if I didn''t already own it I''d definitely buy one of the others at this point. If you do buy one, get an extended service contract and/or plan ahead for when it needs that service. It will, within a year.

Got It 2 weeks after I ordered it, only took me about an hour to assemble. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and am very satisfied have had no problems at all. Would absolutely recommend this elliptical to any one. I am a big guy (FAT) I weigh 275 or at least did 3 weeks ago and it supports my weight just fine. my wife spends 30-40 min on it every day and she loves it as well. no squeaks, or other noises everything runs smooth,(I did add grease when I assembled the unit to the moving components and shafts.) I also enjoy the online tracking thru livestrong.com all in all i have no complaints at this time.

I received the elliptical within 10 days. It was delivered by a straight truck to my garage. The box was in perfect condition. I unpacked it in the garage and carried it piece by piece to my bedroom. I am a 53 year old woman, so my son had to carry the flywheel upstairs for me, since it was so heavy. I was gonna get him to put it together for me, but he couldn''t do it for a few days because of work. So I decided to start on it by myself. I put the whole thing together all by myself! It was pretty easy. The directions were clear and everything needed was included. I love this elliptical! It is fun and a great workout! I''m very happy with my purchase!

I spent some time looking for a good ellipse machine and i was frustrated that all the good reliable ellipse were over 2000, until i found this machine.

The machine came really fast, within the week i had it, bouth it monday was home by friday (maybe due to location) .

Setting it up was a breeze, all tools included, 10 step process and you are up and running. It comes with a lot of grease so don''t bother putting wd40 or anything, just scrape the grease from the bags and you should be good to go.

I started this machine with 285Lbs. No sounds, no problems. After 1 month of using it every day im down to 260 using the weight loss setting. no sounds no issues. The 23Lbs flybar makes a huge difference compared the the previous 15 and 20lbs.

Overall a GREAT product, i would definetly recomend it, the ergonomics are fantastic, not like the beat up machines in the gym.

Bought the machine about a year and a half ago. Was not sure to Purchase the LS10 or Sole 25 or 35. Salesaman tried to push us towqard the Sole machine. Used the machine for about 2 months and then stopped due to skin tag getting sore. Lost interest in the machine for about a year but the livestrong was already making noise at this point. Just started using the machine again now for 2 months. As time goes on it makes more noise. First just a squeaking (seems to be from the back end) Now as the elliptical goes through the different resistance levels, after it hits 4 for the second time (about half way in)in the 30 minute cycle (weight loss) you hear a persistant thud which is inside the machine. I suspect the electronic braking. I took the covers off, not easy, I have a impact tools and compressor which made the job easier. Any repairs made under the covers require some know how. Since I waited over a year the service part of the warranty is over, however parts are still covered for another 2 years. I will replace the parts that has sent us. The machine is a solid machine and I love using it, if the machine had no noises it would be a solid 5 stars. When you pay a $1000 for a machine it should work perfectly out of the box with no noise. Currently if I had to buy this machine all over again, I would not. Can''t say that the Sole would have been any better, but they make their own equipment and the sales person swore by them. The livestong is made by Horizon which I was told by the sales person, uses parts from different manufacturers. I choose the livestrong because to me it had a better position which was more uprights versus the Sole and other models which seemed to be slightly tilted forward. I have a TV with a sound bar and when the sound is turned up I the squeaks are harder to hear, but the thud has me worried that something may come off while in use and damage the machine. I will try to fix it myself if not hire someone to fix it for me.

Garmin Edge 205 GPS-Enabled Cycling Computer

Garmin Edge 205 GPS-Enabled Cycling Computer
  • Monitor Emphasizes Form Factor, Feature Set & GPS Sensitivity
  • Includes Highly Sensitive GPS Receiver For Accurate Data
  • Sirf-Stariii Receiver For Great Reception In Challenging Conditions
  • Lightweight & Waterproof
  • Monitors Vertical Profiles, Climb & Descent, Altitude, Speed, Distance & Time

I got my 205 this weekend, and after reading reviews here, I was concerned about the accuracy, especially when elevation is involved. To this end, I left my Cat Eye Mity 8 on the bike for the first ride so that I could compare the two. Before I actually used the Edge on the bike, I updated the software from the Garmin website. There are two updates you need to install the GPS firmware, and the device firmware. The ride I went on was a 33 mile road loop, 5000ft to 6150ft, with a 6 mile, 3% average grade hill.

Speed: I was worried that the speed of the GPS would lag, but it updated as fast as the Cat Eye, and was more precise, since the Cat Eye only shows speed in increments of 0.5 mph above 20 mph.

Distance: The GPS recorded a distance of 33.32 miles, and the Cat Eye recorded 33.66 miles. I think that matching each other within 1/100 of a mile per mile is pretty amazing. On the open road (in NM roads can get pretty open), GPS accuracy was reported as 8ft to 10 ft that''s less than two bike lengths.

Elevation: The elevation seemed more or less accurate, and the curve drawn in the software is very smooth. The percent grade seemed very accurate, and matched percent grade that I calculated using TOPO! elevation profiles.

Calories burned: Without a heart rate monitor, I think this estimate is bunk. It''s unclear if it uses percent grade in the estimate, and I have a hard time imagining that I burned 2000 calories on that 33 mile ride. On the other hand, it''s a great excuse for a post ride burrito.

Software: The software (on my Mac) is easy to use, and displays information in a useful manner. It is a one step operation to make a route into a course, and one more step to put the course on the GPS. When you "Do the Course" (Garmin''s term), it shows you a map, a compass, your virtual riding partner, or an elevation profile. Note that there is no elevation profile when you are not "Doing a Course", but that seems OK to me after all, you can look behind you to see what you just climbed up. You really want a profile to show you how close you are to a summit or flat, and that is only possible when the entire route is known ahead of time (i.e. a "course").

Issues: There are some issues. Just like my old ETrex, the map never centers itself well on the screen. The Lap and Start/Stop buttons are sensative, so you need to be careful not to hit them if you do something like stretch over the stem while riding. The USB port cover is indeed a pain to get fitted correctly. The screen is harder to see, especially in dim light, than my Cat Eye is.

Other Notes: The Edge 205 comes with two bike mounts, so don''t order two extras for three bikes, like I did. Also, the water bottle that comes with the 205 is twist open to drink, so it''s not a bike bottle. Sort of dumb, but then who buys this thing for the bottle?

Bottom Line: I have no regrets about buying the Edge, and no regrets about getting the 205 rather than the 305. I''ll be taking my Mity 8 off the bike tonight.

Starting with some positive comments, the unit itself (hardware) is nice, it''s slightly larger (thicker) than a standard mobile phone and feels sturdy. The screen is clear (but small) and buttons feel nice and are well placed. The unit has the new SirfStarIII technology for increased sensitivity, e.g. under tree cover, and my limited experience until now is that the reception is indeed good.

So not a bad unit, but it should be understood that this unit is set up as a trip computer, and not as a navigation unit (although it does have some navigation options). It has some nice options like racing a virtual partner, which are well documented on the Garmin web-page. What the web-page does not make very clear though is:

It cannot give you the current position!!!

It does not have WAAS/EGNOS for better location precision

It does not have the "Upcoming turn feature" that the Geko has

As a trip computer it has the following limitations:

The speed it gives fluctuates significantly more than with a normal (simple) cycle computer with a wheel sensor.

The height fluctuates so much that the grade it gives is completely useless (note that the Edge 305 should be better as it has a barometric sensor as well). Also, the total ascent and descent will systematically be too high. In a test I left the Edge for two hours in the same place, and had it record every second. Minimum height was 51m, maximum height 84m, total ascent 215m, total descent 218m, and maximum speed 3.5km/h.

The included Garmin training center software works okay, but is very limited:

You cannot combine tracks (to upload to the Edge e.g.).

You cannot compare more than two tracks.

It only exports data in Garmins own (and uncommon) .hst file format

Also note that if you want to overlay your track onto a map, you will need other software. The user manual (printed out) isokay but also very limited.

The Edge comes with a rechargeable battery that is not user exchangeable (tip: instead of using the car-charger, it may be possible to use a universal USB car charger and the supplied cable at a fraction of the cost. Note however that I have not yet tested this).

I mainly bought this unit to map mountainbiking tracks in order to be able to combine the best trails into some nice routes, and then use the Edge to find the routes. Using some third party software, this is possible, but it should have been much easier. I assumed I would be able to use it together with a map while hiking, and was very (and unpleasantly) suprised to learn that I bought a GPS that cannot tell me where I am.

I am still hoping that Garmin can do an update of the firmware (I am using version 2.30 now) such that the unit gives the current location (ideally with an option for different grids). Without this option, two stars is all it gets from me.

I was a bit dubious about swapping out my regular cyclocomputer, especially for the extra dollars. Could something like the Edge 205 really give me that much more than the distance, speed, and time information I usually acquired with my $30 computer? Well, after a few rides with the 205, I can say that I''m a fan. The thing went on in a jiffy, works like a charm, and gives me all sorts of information I didn''t have before. Wonder why that hill is so tough? Well, dummy, it''s 13% grade. Didn''t know that before. Wonder how much of that ride was spent ascending? Oh, about 1/3. Didn''t know that before. How much climbing did I do on that ride? Oh, about 2,500 feet. Didn''t know that before. And all this from a ride I''ve done at least a dozen times, and one I consider to be a "throwaway" training ride. A very cool, useful, and informative device. Well done, Garmin.

This is a great little gadget. There are things it does really well, things it does not so well, and some things it doesn''t do at all. I won''t bother repeating all the features you can see on their web page. Instead, I''ll stick to those things that I really like about the unit.

*Configurable data fields there are dozens of fields you can display at any one time, both at the overall and lap level, and you can display from two to eight at a time. Showing five, for example, allows you to select a single field to take up the upper half of the display (I use this for Grade) and the remaining four fields take up the lower half.

*Multiple screens There are two main display fields that you can easily toggle while you''re riding, and there are numerous other screens when you are in other modes.

*Virtual racing This has to be my favorite feature. You can save a route as a course, and race yourself against it. The unit will guide you along the course, but the real benefit is seeing how far ahead or behind you are of your previous ride. This is great for improving times on hills or routes that you take often.

*Viewing someone else''s course The free version of Garmin''s MotionBased website lets you see others'' routes, which is great if you''re planning a ride with someone. You can run through the route and watch the map and hill profile while viewing the telemetry. Knowing that your riding partner consistently does 13mph on 6% grades makes it easy to judge if you can keep up.

What this unit isn''t is a full featured GPS device in the sense that it has maps and will guide you nicely to your destination. It has no maps, nor any provisions to download them. The closest thing it has is the virtual races, which will guide you along your route, but it''s not terribly helpful. The software that comes with the device is serviceable, but it is limited in its capabilities and looks like it was written in 1995. Still, it does present the data its gathered in a useful and understandable way.

I have not experienced the location or speed fluctuations of other users, although accuracy does diminish when I''m cycling in steep valleys or under heavy tree cover.

I chose the 205 over the 305 because I already have a Polar 720, which has a heart rate monitor and a cadence sensor, and the other differences were too subtle to shell out the extra money for. If I didn''t already have an HR monitor, I would definitely go for the 305. I should also note I''m a recreational cyclist that tries to get in 75 miles a week for the purposes of getting into shape and losing weight. I''m not sure how valid these comments would be if I was doing serious cycling, so bear that in mind.

To be sure there are things I wish it had or did better, but for the price I''m really happy with it.

I purchased this item because I am new to mountain biking and I go a lot of places that i''m not familiar with. This unit is great for mapping out trails. It''s also nice because it''s pretty much impossible to get lost. Me and my father went for a ride and our legs were dead so all we wanted to do was get back to the car so we just pointed our bikes to the starting point and 15 minutes later we''re at our car. However, as an everyday cycling computer this unit is simply terrible. The speed is erratic (if you''re going 12 miles an hour it''ll say 10.5, 14, 11.5 and so on). The elevation is even worse. When standing still in my backyard it would range from 105 feet to 210 feet. On a five hour ride (that was hilly but not terribly hilly) it said that my elevation gain was 30,000 feet (or the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest). The overall distance is inaccurate. On a ride i have mapped out and I know is 20 miles the distance shows I travel 17.5 miles one day and 22 miles the next. What I do is I have a cateye wireless computer mounted on my bike for my local rides and when i go somewhere I''m not familiar with I bring the Garmin.
