Cons:
1) The fabric on the handle can sometimes be less than enjoyable when it presses against your skin
2) The ring attachment on the grips isn''t circular and can be slightly odd (considering the semi-circular shape can rotate within the fabric)
2) On the third or fourth day, my green band (10-12 lbs) broke (This is hardly a con though, see pros).
Pros:
1) Excellent Customer Service: Because my band broke, I emailed BMP explaining the issue. Justin responded the next business day, and while I was expecting to get the run-around that everyone is familiar with from most companies (ie: "The exercise you were doing was not listed in the guide and therefore we are not liable...you may order a replacement from out website") he instead responded with, and I quote, "The product will be covered. We offer a lifetime warranty on all our bands...please send me a shipping address and I will send the replacement band out immediately." I''m amazed at how fast the customer service replied, and how effortless it was to actually get a replacement band (at no cost to me either!). (Shipped USPS, first class with tracking, and arrived in about 3 days)
2) Quality product, even though a band did break, I feel that everything is solidly constructed. Furthermore, if a band does end up breaking, I feel as though I would effortlessly get a replacement again.
Conclusion: I am very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend this product, along with any other item from BMP because of their amazing customer service. I am a college student, and by no means experienced with workout-equipment, but this set works wonders for me and easily fit into my college-student budget.I just started the p90x fitness program this week, and with the heavy use of pull ups in the program, I had to find a safe way of doing them. Doing the workouts at a gym became a competition for the pull up assist machine with other patrons, and I just wanted to do the workouts at home at my own pace. Previously, I had bought an Iron Gym model from Target but I was discouraged by the flimsy construction and poor reviews online (I should have done research BEFORE the purchase...) and returned it to the store.
Reading even more online reviews, BMP had the best reputation and price for what they offered. Not only do you get the chin up bar, but a whole set of resistance bands which seem of much higher quality than anything offered by fitness sections of department stores. I received the BMP bar and exercise bands yesterday and with the help of a patient boyfriend, a phillips head screwdriver and a crescent wrench, we were able to assemble the pull up bar in about 20 minutes. This thing is solid; I''m 5''10" and 150lbs and it doesn''t bend or warp no matter which hand grip arrangement I use. The unit is lightweight so it is easy enough to install above a doorframe and just as easy to take down. I feel safe using it and it doesn''t seem to mar the paint/doorframe at all.
I am going to try out the resistance bands today and look forward to completing the p90x workouts in the privacy of my home. Thank you, Black Mountain Products, you seem like a very customer service oriented company and I really appreciate the quality of the products I received. I would definitely order from BMP again.

I''ve been using the pull-up bar and resistance bands for the first stage of P90X. I weigh 215 pounds and am of moderate strength and fitness (I''ve done about 10 triathlons of different lengths). The pull-up bar handles my weight easily, and it is made very solidly. I didn''t install the brackets above the doorframe, and it is still very stable. The bands are good industrial strength quality. Very easy to add multiple bands to add weight incrementally (because of this, you have more combinations with less bands than the BeachBody bands.) Nice feature allows you to anchor the bands into a closed door.Overall, solidly made product. Very good for P90X.

When I originally got this product, it was shipped saying that I''m one of the first to get the "new 2011 bar" or some such nonsense. If this is the 2011, I''d hate to see the 2010. When putting the bar together, I found that the bolts and screws had to be put together EXTREMELY carefully because the hardware was made out of such low grade materials that either the bolts would strip (using the proper size wrench) or the screws would (seriously how does one STRIP A FLATHEAD SCREW??). Additionally, I had to tape towels around all points where the bar meets the wall, as I found that on the two straight-end contact points closest to me, the "pads" were again made of such cheap rubber, that they compress, and allow the sharp metal ends of the bars to dig in to my door frame, leaving pretty nasty dents. Same situation on the load bearing bar on the backside of the unit. The bands were just as bad. The "Extra heavy" band developed a tear within one week, and additional tears in the next week. I''m now out the main band that I would want to use in the set because I won''t risk it snapping on me. There is not NEARLY enough tension in any of them, and at one point, I found I was having to use all five bands to properly simulate a pullup.
Everything here works, so I''ll at least say that. It''s just that it''s made of such terrible materials that they either damage your other property or don''t work for long.

I ordered this set in January,I have rarely used the bands maybe a total of 20 times, this week I started p90x and was on day 3 when the green band snapped and broke and hit me in the eye during normal use,(band was placed under feet and being pulled upward by both hands in place of using dumbells) you can also see where it began to break at the same point on the other side (about 3 inches from the handles) very disappointed and afraid to continue using these bands. It''s a shame I really liked that this design allowed for adding multiple bands together but if they aren''t strong enough to use what''s the point?
