To those that have problems with it I assume its failure to assembly properly or you just got a defective product out the box. Bars do feel strong and durable.
Only concern I have is if that the grip will wear out with time but I wear workout gloves so that might help.I bought this for my son last christmas (2010) His father :P has been using it on a daily basis since it was put together (190ish lbs)
My son as been using this like a madman for the past two months in preparation for Boot Camp. (200ish lbs)
It has held up wonderfully!
Granted, he couldn''t figure out how to do a decent dip on it, or really use it for sit ups, but for pull ups its great!
We did find out that the pads that go against the doorway, shouldn''t be in direct sunlight for long periods as they began to ''slide'' down the arms. This problem was rectified with electrical tape wrapped around the pads. Problem solved.
And to solve the problem of the slight movement that was happening, and the fact my son didn''t trust it just by the pressure technique of keeping it in the doorway, we permanently mounted it in the doorway using the empty sizing screw holes.
So, yes, I will have to patch a wall when he is done using it (two holes) but this bar has held up great for all the abuse its taken.

This bar is still going strong! My son (now 180ishlbs) uses this everyday, every time he walks under it, he''s doing pull ups. The fixes I mentioned before, haven''t had to be redone, and the apparatus hasn''t had be taken down, nor fallen apart. Now he want''s to be sure I will ship it to him when he gets out of Boot. His SSGT even commented it''s a better bar than the one he has.
So I will be buying another one (not for $900+) as his Dad won''t let this one go! :)Although it barely fits, the wide metal plates feel like they''re securely attached, I just have to be careful lining it up.
Pros:
* Widest of the bars I could find, fits office doorways.
* Lots of comfy foam grip area all down the bar, not just in spots.
* Plentiful gray (not colored, thankfully, like in pic) foam on all contact points to protect door frames.
* Very adjustable to fit a wide variety of doors -most other bars either fit or don''t.
* Looks pretty cool... red end caps look neat when it''s on the door.
* Feels stable when on the door.
* Push-up grip shape and positioning is comfortable, better than others I''ve tried.
* Comes with nice manuals and a poster showing exercises. Well packaged overall.
Cons:
* Seems a little wobbly when not on door, could use a cross support or something. But quite stable under use.
* Like all pull up "multi gyms", the dip functionality is a joke. But what do you expect?

I purchased the multi-gym to use exclusively for pull-ups. I haven''t tried push-ups, sit-ups or dips (not sure how anyone could do a decent dip with this thing), but it functions very well as a pull-up bar. The selling point for me was the ability to do wide grip pull-ups.The multi-gym feels very well made and so far the padding has done an excellent job of protecting the trim around my door frame. I will post an update if the product doesn''t withstand the test of time. The perfect multi-gym is a step above the previous door way gym I used. The bar sits about 4 inches away from the door, so my elbows do not hit the door frame like they did on my old door way gym. Also, the bar allows for a much wider grip that extends beyond the sides of the door way. The multi-gym also has a lot of padding that will protect your door frame and the wall above the door. I also like the safety clip that prevents the door gym from falling while you''re using it. There is a 220 lb weight limit that might prevent some people from using it, especially if you like to add extra weight or have to use resistance bands for assitance, but I really feel that the bar could handle more than 220lbs. The instruction manual was very detailed and provided various workout programs and tips. Overall, I think the perfect multi-gym is one of the better door way gyms you can buy.
