Powertec Multi System Workbench

Powertec Multi System WorkbenchI bought the Older MS-MB back in early 2000. The older Powertec equipment is much, Much better. Even the Utility Bench I bought back in early 2000 is superior to the ones they have now. They are no longer built by the same supplier and although the quality looks better on Youtube and pictures, it is not. My model has a broken weld near the abdominal machine area that is causing the upper arm to scrape. Powertec service use to be the best. Now I have been trying to talk to a human being and nothing. I sent emails to Mario and he finally replied but stated that the part is no longer in stock and he will get back to me. This was weeks ago.

The machine worked well. The squat machine has really good movement and will burn thighs. the shoulder press is the best I have experienced on a machine. the chest incline and flat bench works effectively. Decline is not good because you will slide off the bench. The machine''s weakness is leg extension which does not go through full range and can actually injure your knees. the Lat pull-down works but you have to use the curl bench and turn it flat to hold you in place. The movement of the lat pull-down is quite limited and depending on your size, the effectiveness will vary. I have not used attachments but they will not fit my older utility bench.

I was so disappointed with the service that I sold my good but used WB-MS to my relative and I purchased a different leverage system that is superior in workmanship and the service is outstanding. Every home gym system has warts with the exception of the T-1 Titan which is simply perfect (I did not get the T-1). Do your research on customer service because they will be you some day. Call the company and talk to someone then buy.

I''ve had the Powertec MS-WB for two years now and couldn''t be happier with it. It is a really heavy duty piece equipment that''s very versatile and can handle many different exercises. It has been able to handle all the weight I''ve thrown at it. Be aware that the weight you lift on this machine does not directly translate to free weights. For instance, my bench press work out is 3x8 with 320 lbs on the Powertec and this translates to about 275 lbs for me doing the same exercise with an Olympic bar and free weights. That really doesn''t matter because this machine will definitely hold its own with the free weights in terms of body building and strength gains. Plus, the Powertec workbench makes weight lifting much safer in that you do not need a spotter and you can lift to full fatigue without concern for injury. The only con is that you have to purchase your Olympic weight plates separately but you''d have to do that with any free weight apparatus. In the end, I don''t'' see why I will ever need another home weight machine. This thing is built like a tank. The money I''ve already saved on gym memberships has made the Powertec, commercial grade elliptical and curl bar a bargain.

Buy Powertec Multi System Workbench Now

Hi all this is actually the first review I have posted on a product via Amazon. I purchased the Powertec Workbench Multipress with Isolateral Arms product. So, it is very similar to the Powertec Multi System Workbench. The main support weld on this product busted while I was on it. A brief history, purchased on 3/25/2012, issue happened on 07/16/2012, todays date 09/19/2012. I contacted support the day it occurred, 07/16/2012, and have not had a resolution yet. I have emailed and called multiple times to try and resolve this issue. Would I suggest buying Powertec products based on my experience....NO not at all! Poor customer service! A warranty is worthless without backing. No resolutions yet, we''ll see what happens. Buyer beware! If there were zero stars I would have given it that.

I bought this 2nd hand about 5 Months ago and have used it regularly. After 5 Months use here''s what I like and don''t like.

The chest and shoulder press is very good, especially on incline chest I love it. The lat pulldown station works well, gives a good pump in the lats.

The standing calf raise is good, nice deep stretch and comfortable.

The ab crunch doesn''t work that well but the preacher curl feels nice and you can do a wicked tricep extension by using a chain rope combination and turning around in the seat.

Now all said and done the upholstery is a disappointment. Easily ripped and not that sturdy.

Some of the welds are very weak, the bracket that allows the bench to swivel forward and back just broke on me. I''ve had it re-welded all around this time. Thankfully no accident but it could have broke under a very heavy load so not so good.

The squat station at my height 5 foot 8" I cant get a deep squat it hits the stopper also the lat pulldown for a tall

person couldn''t get a decent stretch on it again the stopper wont allow it.

To sum it up it''s a nice looking machine the chest and shoulder leverage is good, great feel about it. However it could have been so much better with a little thought put into the design.

The welds breaking concerns me, it''s not commercial and I would say the maximum safe load is not what they claim. I''m 96kg and have had a max 180kg on the press and it broke under this load.

Good idea and I still enjoy training with it but in hindsight wouldn''t buy one again.

I have owned the Powertec Multi-system workbench for at least 6 years. The system is fine and works well (when not broken). The frame has a lifetime warranty on it. I had bought new but during a home move I had lost this purchase paperwork and other paperwork for other items I have purchased. I explained this to them but they were not willing to help out. I had sent pictures of the problem/broken frame and they finally offered to send a new frame if I would pay the freight. The cost of the frame was $144.00 and freight 158.00. I said no because they should have sent it free of charge. I would understand if it was from abuse but the weld broke that held on one of the attachments. I will try to attach pictures that I had sent to them. I am now sitting on a piece of equipment that costs $1,300.00 that can not be used anymore and they do not seem to care. Because of the POOR CUSTOMER SERVICVE that I received, I would NOT RECCOMEND ANY products from Powertec. There are many more fitness companies out there that would treat you better than Powertec.
