The bench, first of all, is very solidly built. It feels like about half of a bench, because when you lean back, you can''t really lay all the way down... I am 6''3, BUT it still doesn''t feel too short, however. You actually don''t have the need to lay all the way down, as when doing sit ups or crunches, you are technically not supposed to lay all the way back in between reps.
Putting this together took me about an hour or two, but for someone with experience with these things, it could take much less time.
Overall, this is a solid, great bench for people of basically all size and weight. (I am 6''3, 225 and it fit me fine) I do realize that this bench is more expensive than many other boards on Amazon, but when you try out this bench, you will notice the difference.I just received my TKO sit up bench and for the next couple days I will be wasting my time trying to repackage and return the equipment so I can get my money back. Here are the reasons why:
1. The angle of the decline for this bench is nonexistant. If you have never done a sit up in your life it may be OK for you but for anyone that does sit ups regularly this is not going to do anything but cause physical pain in areas other than your abs (read #2). It pretty much feels like you''re sitting on a flat bench.
2. The bench is too low to the ground. I''m 6 feet tall and the first thing I noticed when I sat on the bench was that the back of my knees weren''t flush against the padding of the bench because my feet were touching the ground. The shin padding placement is awkward as well. It''s too close to the bench and places your heels underneath when doing sit ups. This was causing physical pain to the back of my calves and I had to stop my workout after about 40 sit ups to rub my legs.
3. The base of the bench narrows for no reason. If you try doing sit ups to the sides, your buttocks will literally slide against the edge of the seat. Very uncomfortable. Why the manufacturer didn''t just keep the base wide for comfort? I have no idea but hopefully not to save a few dollars.
The only positive comment I can make about this bench is that it looks really cool. Unfortunately I wasn''t looking for decorations in my gym.

They''ve changed this slightly -it''s better! The back, wheel-side base has a rubber cover on it, though I don''t know why you''d stand on it there, unless you were using it for stretching or perhaps doing calf raises. Come to think of it, that''s a good idea. As a man, I do with the upper handle was further down the front tube, since you have to sit on it carefully not to rack yourself. I removed the cap to this handle, took an angle grinder and cut it down to about four inches and put the cap back on. Now my man-parts are safe from injury. The overall design is great. TKO made the Tri-bar years ago, a brilliant Olympic bar design that made lifting very heavy weights less painful to your hands and traps. However, it never caught on. Wish they''d bring that idea back, too. This situp bench is worth the money. It''s stable, the seat is immaculately upholstered, it assembles in no time, and it will last a lifetime. Just buy it already! This is a sturdy, well-made bench that will surely last for a long time with just my family''s use. The wheels make it easy to pull into the living room while I am watching American Idol to knock out my evening 200 sit ups. The $50 dollar shipping kind of sucked, but it came it came a day earlier than expected. Great Product.
