First, I had a Powertec Gym WB-MS older model which is a very good home gym. The problems I had with the Powertec were limited movements and motions on the Lat device. I slid down the bench during decline bench presses. There were not enough exercise movements to keep me motivated and to get a consistent burn. Plus, the pads were cheap and cracking, the machine weld broke and it has been some work to get Powertec to honor up to their lifetime service agreement.
The Body Solid Leverage gym has different available options:
1-the entire gym as seen in photos with bench (usually the 46 model), Hack Squat which is the SBL460P4
2-Partial gym with no Hack Squat attachment
3-Partial gym with no Hack Squat Attachment and no Bench.
The gym comes in 4 or more heavy boxes, and the bolts were well packaged and well marked. The instructions were nicely done even for those who are not mechanically incline like me. There were a couple descrepancies with the instructions and reality but if you use common sense, most users will not need to hire someone to build the machine. The build took two of us less than 6 hours.
The quality of the machine is exceptional. The gauge of steel is 10-11 and much heavier quality compared to the Powertec. There is absolutely no movement of the machine during exercises. It is commercial quality. The bench I decided to go with is the GFID 71 because there were some issues of the bench back pad not aligning with the drill holes (GFID46). The GFID 71 is outstanding and heavy. I was thoroughly impressed. I bought the leg attachments and with a few adjustment a person can get the right stretch for leg extension and prone leg curls. Great burn.
The Body Solid leverage gym quite simply is amazing and beyond my expectations; and this is coming from a fairly satisfied Powertec customer. The bench press and incline is difficult and because the Body Solid gym has moveable arms, it feels like you are doing free-weights. I had to lower the weight and it was still challenging. Hits the sweet spots on Pecs. You can do flies with included nylon cables. The Lat machine has two ways to work Lats and both are great. There is a huge cable pulley and aircraft strength tensil cables. The movement is sweet for mid back if you buy the back close-grip attachment like I did. You simply face the machine with your back up against the preacher bench and put feet up. The preacher is awesome in terms of burn. The only issues I see are:
1the preacher bar does not have moving grip so you will wear down the grip eventually.
2-touch up paint (they include 5 bottles or so) does not match all machine peices, just the mainframe
3-the olympic collars are smaller than standard for some unknown reason. This means if you buy those spring collars, they will not work. The good news is they provide for you all the spring collars that fit. But still, the Olympic collars should be up to standard size. I will add however, the they use chrome steel collars so the weights come off super easy.
I have had great burns and workouts with this Body Solid gym. Let me add that the customer services is beyond outstanding. I ruin the seat on the bench (owner''s fault) and they shipped FedX a brand new seat no charge. You talk to humans out of Illnois and they are concerned and helpful. I bought the machine from another vender online who were awesome to deal with and have a direct connection to body solid.
If you want the best home gym possible and have the money and space I recommend the Titan T-1 Home gym. But if you want a commercial quality home gym at a fraction of the cost of most gyms, and you want great burns during workouts and great lifetime customer service, than the Body Solid SBL460 is unmatched by anything on the market today. This is a very good home gym if you want a good training sessionwithout the gym membership. Get plenty of 45''s, 35''s etc. It has smooth operation (bench and lat pull down) thanks to the pillow block bearings. the preacher curl is ok, not great. I do dumbbell curls on preacher bench instead of using the handle. the squat and calf raise are also very good. I have had to replace the foam handles once, Body Solid got them to me within 3 days. Customer service has been excellent when needed.
To complement the SBL, I use a power rack, seated row machine, and dumbbells.
Now, I workout any time to fit my schedule.

I got lucky and came across a guy on Craigslist who was selling one of these for $700.00 because his teen age son had stopped using it. I brought it to my house and had a professional come in and assemble it for me. I use it five days a week.....I can tell you that you wont need a gym membership if you buy one and follow the detailed training video that comes with the equipment.Excellent value for the price!!!!Read Best Reviews of Body Solid SBL460P4 Freeweight Leverage Gym Package Here
