Pearl Izumi Men''s Infinity Comp Short

Pearl Izumi Men''s Infinity Comp Short, Black/Shadow Grey, LargeI prefer to use the fitted compression type shorts for my marathons because I seem to recover faster and these are much more comfortable than others I have tried. The fact that it comes without a pad helps over the long haul. I appreciated the internal brief but unlike the shorts, they provide more of a liner instead of offering real support. If you wear briefs under regular running shorts, most likely you''ll need to do the same in these as there is no pocket for support of the package/family jewels/man-berries/''nads/cojones . . .

These shorts offer the right amount of compression (not too tight/loose) and Pearl Izumi''s elastic grippers make sure they don''t ride up like some other shorts I''ve used in the past. The normal inside key pocket is handy but I am downright ecstatic about the roomy rear zippered pocket to stash an extra gel or two, or my hotel room key when I do out of town races. This frees up room on my race belt and the only way I''ll lose my key is if I lose my shorts (hopefully that will never happen during a race).

You can''t go wrong with these shorts and the only change I would recommend is to make the brief a bit more supportive. I''ve done several runs in them, washed them in cold water, then allowed them to air dry with no shrinkage, twisting, snagging, pilling, or any of the other problems I''ve had with shorts and tights made of this material. I''m 5''11" and weigh about 165-175 depending on how much carb-loading I did and these fit perfectly.

As an earlier reviewer mentioned these are in fact the men''s compression shorts. I''ve uploaded a picture of the tags that came with them in case anyone needs proof. Thanks to the earlier reviewer and comparing the pictures of this product to those on the Pearl Izumi website I made the educated guess that I was in fact ordering a pair of the men''s shorts. And, as the tag confirmed they are men''s.

The sizing is consistent with Pearl Izumi bike shorts. I wear a large in bike shorts and the large in these fits me just the same. There is a brief liner inside the shorts so you have a little extra layer between you and the world but it''s not an overly thick layer so these will breathe well.

There''s a small interior pocket similar to the one you''ll find on swim trunks and a larger zippered pocket in the back center. This back pocket looks pretty solid and should hold keys or a gel pack or two pretty well.

There is a draw string on the shorts, so if you need to cinch them up you can. Though I personally have not had to to cinch them up as they have stayed in place quite well.

The leg openings do not have grippers like bike or tri shorts. They can slid up the leg a bit when you sit down but they stay in place for me while running.

The length of the short is shorter than my bike shorts. Where most Pearl Izumi bike or tri shorts seem to come down over my quads leaving just a few inches to my knee these break a few inches higher. So it''s a slightly different feeling vs bike or tri shorts.

Overall the comfort factor is good. They feel like they give a decent amount of compression to my quads without overdoing it. And, they move nicely with none of the diaper feeling I get from the chamois in my tri shorts.

I''ve had them out for a few runs now and liked them so much that I ordered a second pair. I''ve been wearing them under a pair of loose athletic shorts. This definitely cuts down on the breathability but gives me a touch more modesty. When I get back to the house and doff the athletic shorts these breathe wonderfully and help with my cool down.

Great shorts, although they are not the "Women''s" these are in fact the "Men''s" shorts. I messaged Amazon and the seller about the mistake, and they didn''t even bother changing it and said I was wrong...got them in the mail and it says clearly on the tag "Men". Why have a link to report mistakes and errors if it just gets ignored. Wake-up Amazon...glad my order wasn''t cancelled like I wanted. Whoever handles complaints of item mistakes, needs to find another career. FAIL!

I like these so much I have started wearing them as boxers, so I can just peel off my pants and stretch, run, or do yoga at any time. The pocket in the back fits my mp3 player and smart phone.

Since the fabric sits snugly up in my crotch, I don''t have an issue of my legs rubbing together and getting soar.
