Gaiam Tres Medallion Yoga Mat (Royal Blue)

The mat it self is a great design but it is thinner than I was expecting; however, this is my first yoga mat. It really is sticky when it is on the floor. It took a few days to completely get rid of the smell from being in the packaging.

I''ve had this mat for several years. It''s pretty much all I''ve known. I only have problems with it when I do downward facing dog. I can''t keep my hands in place because the mat is so slippery. I have to keep scooting my hands back because they''re continually slipping forward. This means that I never am able to do the position correctly. Then the teacher inevitably corrects my position and I''m like holding on for dear life, hoping that I''m not going to fly forward as if I were on a slip-and-slide. I do wash my mat regularly. I always assumed that my hands were too sweaty and that it was just me, until I started talking about it to a teacher. I tried out different mats -LuluLemon and Jade Tree -and wow. It''s like night and day. They''re such higher quality mats that it''s ridiculous. It''s like living your whole life thinking that Hershey makes the finest chocolate, then one day biting into a 95% bar of organic cacao. It''s worth moving up in the world sometimes.

This particiular color mat was a gift. I have one and have been very happy except that the little bitof extra thickness makes it difficult for me if balance poses.

This is a beautiful yoga mat and is good quality. It''s masculine color yet has a feminine design. My husband likes to use it when he joins me in yoga class because it is not pink or purple like the other mats they provide.
