Icebreaker Men''s BF 150 Legging with Fly

Icebreaker Men''s Legging with FlyI live in LA, so some would say it never really gets cold here. But on mornings when it''s in the 40s or below, shorts just aren''t enough. These are a great base layer that doesn''t get too hot even on long, high-effort runs. They''re very soft and comfortable, and fit well. Highly recommend.

I thought they were a little bit on the expensive side, but then all the quality cold weather pants were about the same price. These kept me warm in 30 degree weather with freezing rain. Will definitely recommend and buy from seller again.

Icebreaker base layers can be worn casually or for sports and outdoor activities. Clothes seem wellconstructed, thick enough to be opaque and they retain their shape. Soft to the skin and breathable, these clothes live up to ice breaker''s advertisement

These are hands down the best long underwear bottoms I''ve ever had. The XL fit me perfectly (5''6" & 215 lbs.). I finally had a chance to test them on a snow hike this past weekend and all I can say is WOW-WOW-WOW!!!! Expensive, but worth every penny.

The Icebreaker Bodyfit 150 Leggings w/Fly is a great pair of merino wool baselayer (also marketed as ''underwear'' and ''pants'' by Icebreaker). The 150 g/m is the lightest weight of material of any of the IB baselayer leggings they also have a 200 g/m and a 260 g/m leggings.

What sets the 150 g/m a part from the others is that these are truly a baselayer pair of leggings, making them great for using around town, at home, or out on the trail. Unlike the other two heavier weights, which are designed for adding a serious amount of warmth rather then being a true first layer base layer pair of leggings, these do a very excellent job at doing what it is first layer leggings are suppose to do. Those who are true five layer hikers will understand what this means.

I ordered the size "large" and on my calibrated scale they are 166 grams (5.85 ounces) in total weight.

As a long distance hiker I tend to have larger Gastrocnemius muscles and the design of these tend to not fit well for those with a large Gm, so that is why I deducted one star. Icebreaker markets these to the "outdoor & hiking" community and thus should be taking into account issues such as that, I feel, and if you feel that is not the case consider this a five-star review.

The only other thing I think that Icebreaker could do different is make the band at the top not be to tall. I do not understand the need for a 1-1/2 inch band at the top of a pair of 150 g/m pair of leggings. That would be fine for the 260 g/m leggings but it is overkill (and extra unnecessary weight) for the 150 g/m leggings.

I have a little over two hundred miles of hiking while wearing these and the material has held up well. Much better then my pair of 150gm Icebreaker t-shirts.

All in all I will absolutely buy these when I need another pair if Icebreaker continues to make them. I feel there are better alternatives for the heavier weight material leggings on the market, but at this weight of material, I am not sure anybody makes a better pair of true baselayer leggings.
