The only downside is that while the cotton is organic (and thus has no flame retardants!), the cotton is the outside and back of the bra, and the inside part that is touching your breasts is actually made of spandex or similar stretchy material. I really wanted to have organic cotton next to my skin in that area, and would prefer the spandex (if needed for stretch) is outside that. There are probably good reasons it was done this way, but that is just my personal view, since I am very sensitive to chemicals and wanted totally natural materials.
Also, being a racerback, the shoulder straps do sit very close in to the neck, so if you try to wear this with ordinary scoop neck tops or tshirts, the straps will show, however for sports, yoga or if you don''t care about having a "layered look" it is totally fine.
I got one in black but I will probably come back for more....This bra is not made long enough; in other words, there''s not a lot below the breast area to come under the breasts and then down to the band. So, though for the most part it fits, it''s not as good a fit as my blue canoe bras have, which have generous use of fabric to cover completely. In the interest of full disclosure, I wear a size 42, and I''m sure that contributes to the problem; I''m sure this wouldn''t be an issue for anyone under size 40.
Part of the problem too is that many of these makers size the bras in small, med, large, and x-large, and you don''t know what size each one really corresponds to. I probably actually need an xx-large.
I''m compromising and wearing it anyway, since the fact that the fabric is organic is more important, and it''s hard to find organic sport bras that are snug and supportive enough.
This bra has the advantage of fitting snugly enough, due to the spandex content of course, and it feels like it isn''t going to stretch out and get flimsy too soon, as the blue canoe ones do. And despite the shortness, I find that it feels comfortable, and can be worn all day without noticing it. I did find that I preferred to wear it inside out, since something continually scratched me when I wore it right side out.
I will try to contact the company and ask if my suggestions can be taken.
But girls, we need to encourage more production of organic cotton bras, at affordable prices, to as to not be putting toxic stuff so close to our bodies all the time!
Updatemarch 2013:
The manufacturer contacted me and appologized for the fact that the bra had been scratchy, and offered to send me a new one free. So, I accepted and he did! They are a new company and are trying to build support for their product.
