1) filled the bags with dried child play land sand ... the inner yellow bags are very tough and have adequate Velcro to seal them flaps over.
Since the loops of the Velcro are larger than the grains of sand, there would eventually be leakage depending on usage. So I followed the review and used tape to seal each bag after filling and weighting them.
2) 3 full bags fit no problem, 4 fit and its a bit tight ... but they fit.
3) the handles are fantastic and are the reason I selected this bag over four others on Amazon, and the handles did not disappoint.
4) The bag was delivered fast, a day or two before I expected it.
Update: Used this bag for 4 weeks with no change in the bag or leakage. I do not throw or drop the bag but on more than one occasion it had hit the deck harder than planned with no leakage ... i use it with 3 and 4 bags inside. changing them within a workout.
Hope this helps .. I''m glad with this products quality and design.I am a fitness facility owner, and an experienced personal trainer. I bought this product along with other similar items based on advertised versatility and praising reviews.
This is hopefully the review you need to get the whole story you''re looking for; I wish I could have heard what I''m about to share with you...
The other reviews with 4-5 stars must be based on initial impressions/excitement (a flaw in the ratings system overall). This is our experience with the product during the couple weeks of (attempted) use, up to the time we had no choice but to return it. I''ve been a steady buyer of everything amazon since the late 90s, and I may have made one or two other returns ever.
#1. The individual bags, that are supposed to hold the sand, leak sand steadily. I don''t mean one or two of the bags, as if maybe there''s a defectthey all leaked sand along every seam of every bag. This is the -seamof the bag, mind you, not the closure. So I took the idea of contributing reviewers and duct-taped the crap out of it... but it could only hold back the flow of sand for so long. You may be wondering if I must be putting the product through some crazy high-impact routine, but no, it was used basically as a substitute for a bodybar by my clients, a few times, and without any slamming exercises.
#2. I actually UNDERfilled the individual inner bags, yet like other reviewers, we had little success getting all four bags into the outer shell. What makes this product supposedly versatile is ability to change it''s weight load. It''s time-consuming and impractical, if not impossible, to change the weight during a workout.
#3. The outer shell bag. Take a nice look at the photos provided my the manufacturer. See how the bag looks nice and full, puffy, and solid... well you know how people joke about how fast food burgers look in ads compared with how they look in reality? This is sadly the case here too. Sure, it''s a sandbag, but those shots are designed to look deceivingly different than the saggy, lumpy sack which it is. Picture a regular duffel bag with 2 large books in it. A tad more unwieldy than the version the guy in the pic gets to use.
In summary, it''s a good idea, but this is a failed prototypeit needs improvement in every area. If SKLZ stands behind their stuff, they will jump on fixing these issues and will probably end up with a good piece of equipment. Right now, you''re paying for a heavily flawed beta version.

I bought this product because I follow the bodyrock.tv workouts and they use a sandbag (not this one) in the majority of their workouts. The one they use is from a USA based company that charges obscene prices to ship to where I live in Canada. So when I found this on Amazon I was thrilled because it looks exactly the same except it is missing one handle in between the 2 horizontal handles, but that wasn''t a big deal for me. I''ve used it twice so far and have had no problems. I did put my sand in plastic baggies first and duct taped them and then place them in the yellow sandbags provided just for added security, but I did find that the yellow sandbag holds more like 5lbs not 10lbs (that''s why the 4 stars), but there is still plenty of room left in the black sandbag to add more baggies of sand. Very happy with this find and I saved myself about $50.00.Read Best Reviews of SKLZ Super Sandbag - Heavy Duty Training Weight Bag Here
I use bags of Aquarium gravel! I bought 5 to 25lb. bags of aquarium stone and it''s working perfectly with my clients. It''s still doplic like sand to create instability and I can easily add or take away a bag depending on the workout. No leaks here!Want SKLZ Super Sandbag - Heavy Duty Training Weight Bag Discount?
I received my bag and so far so good. I read some of the comments and seemed to be some issue with sand leaking from the inner bags. I actually went to Home Depot and picked up a bag of decorative pea pebble. Just keep the rock within its original bagging and stuff it in the super sand bag. The bags total weight is at 46.6 pounds. I use this weight for everything I do. I suppose you could fill the small bags with pebble as well if you need to change out the weights but I manage to handle the 46 pounds for all my sets and reps. Has been a great tool for arm, shoulder and legs. Great for mixing things up and generally something different from dumbbells all the time.
