The first thing that surprised me was the way they were shipped... in USPS flat rate boxes that were taped with a few layers (as in they took the packing tape & wrapped it around the box a few times), I assume so that the box would "hold up" during shipping. Having purchased other weight-training equipment in the past, this seemed not only unsafe but honestly, really just rude of the seller. I mean come on, how is someone to handle delivering, much less carry a flimsy, awkwardly shaped "box" fashioned out of layers of tape? My postal person refused to deliver these due to their packaging and thus I had to pick them up from the post office. Total inconvenience, there is a reason we pay for shippingso we don''t have to go out of our way driving all over town and waiting in lines! The second thing that surprised me was the thin layer of bubble wrap around each KB, what was that even supposed to do? It was like salt on the cut that were the crappy boxes. There had to have been a better way to send these, especially since the S&H fees were $45+ and were shipped within the same state. The boxes weren''t even marked "heavy" or any other cautionary text for the postal folks.
Lastly, I feel as though one of the KBs has been used & re-painted, it is in pretty bad shape with many nicks and chips all over it, you can see at least 3 layers of paint in diff colors in the various nicks. I would normally send this back and ask for a replacement, but given it wasn''t even shipped in an appropriate manner, I am not going to spend the money in effort in sending it back to get a new one. Obviously, this is going in my home gym to be used and not in a curio cabinet to look pretty, so the aesthetic appearance wont affect the use one bit, it is just annoying and worth mentioning... if I wanted used equipment, I would have gone to my local gym to buy theirs off them... not put this on my wishlist where someone who works hard for their money spent it gifting this to me.
Yes, this was free for me and it shouldn''t matter, but everyone works hard for their money and sellers should have better quality control.
