Since I am 5''11", I LOVED that this mat was extra long. I can finally fit all the way on the mat and not be hanging off of one end! I know many people said it was smelly or slippery, but I did not have that problem. I followed the instructions (unroll the mat and let it air out, then wipe it down) and didn''t have any smell or "slippage." I really do like this mat. I can see how some do not like the thickness, but I think that is all in what you prefer (I like the extra cushion it provides).

I bought this mat based on the price; I have been looking for an affordable mat for ages. Unfortunately, I now have to pay for two mats because this one is terrible. Insanely slippery, and we''re talking for basic stretches and poses -downward-facing dog is near impossible. I''ve tried it three times and have never been hot or sweaty or anything to cause a slick surface. I literally cannot hold myself in the most basic positions. No grip or traction to speak of. Save yourself the headache and the expense of two mats -put your dollars toward something of better quality.

I bought this because I knew it would be thicker than other mats that I had used. I wanted to try an extra thick mat for comfort reasons and to see if it would help problem spots that created soreness when using thinner mats. It did help me.

I have been on a weight loss kick of recent and wanted to try yoga for various reasons. My weight loss routine has looked like this, Monday and Wednesday are cardio and weight lifting days. This includes jogging and sometimes spinning and light weight lifting 10-12 reps for major exercises. Tuesday Thursday and Friday I do 2 workouts that either include 2 yoga sessions or 1 yoga and 1 zumba session. I have used this mat since January. I practice about three times a week for an hour and a half at a time. After 6 months a few bits of the surface started flaking out where hands and feet go in Down Dog. The flaking process has continued and now there are gouges of missing foam. I found the cushion and grip to be fine, but the durability is horrendous. I contacted the company, Bean Products. They called me right away which was great, but would only offer me a 15% discount and recommended I buy a rubber or latex mat. I want to point out that the label says "...very durable" and "Great for studios." This wouldn''t last a month in a yoga studio. I REALLY urge you to look for a different mat.
