The Sawyer 140 doesn''t leak when the straw is closed off, holds about a liter of water, and filters everything except viruses.

The suction required to drink water isn''t too excessive, and it can be squirted out into another bottle or cup (for say brushing teeth), although I found it harder to do than the guy in the Sawyer video.

The Amazon version has 3 straws and a hand plunger for back washing the filter.

fine print on the website. I would not fill it from a waterhole in Africa, but would fill it from an

African city or lodge water supply claiming to be potable water. If there has been flooding you can always use a Katadyn tablet if you want to be absolutely virus free, when doing this I suggest removing the filter and adding a Nalgene wide mouth cap for the 4 hr treatment period. (Avoid iodine due to potential thyroid problems).

This Sawyer water bottle works great for a canoe trip. My buddy told me about it so I bought one and used it every day on a three day float trip in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. This has become part of my camping/emergency preparedness equipment. The other review stated that the bottle didn''t come with a syringe for back-flushing the filter. This is incorrect. The bottle he bought from Wal-Mart may not have had a syringe, but this product as advertised on Amazon did come with it as well as replacement straws. The picture above doesn''t show a syringe, but it is in the description. Everything fit together fine and I anticipate getting a lot of use out of the bottle/filter.

Really enjoying this product. I take it everywhere, work, stores, woods and never have to wonder about water quality.The only thing that would make it better would be an inline carbon filter for improving the taste of some water sources.
