It''s not chrome plated and the silver paint may chip off over time, but you can''t beat the price. Worst case, buy a can of spray paint in a year or two. Hex bars are generally a great alternative to straight bars for squats, deadlifts, and shrugs.

The picture fools you. I bought this item thinking it was chrome plated, but It is painted with cheap paint you can remove with your nail. If you want a rusted bar buy this; if not not spend $30 more and get a chrome plated one

I definitely agree with JSF14 and his review about the quality expectation when buying a piece of equipment that you believe to be new. I received my trap bar very promptly (2 days) and also spent 30 minutes unwrapping it from it''s taped cocoon. I must say that I immediately noticed it had been painted and noticed on two of the handle welds that rust was present and had been painted over with silver paint. So I was initially disappointed but to be honest I train in my garage and have numerous pieces of used and somewhat rusted equipment and weights. My point is that if I had bought this on Craigs list I know what I''m buying but when you buy something on Amazon that is listed as "New" you expect it to be New!! The CAP trap bar is still a quality bar and I''m sure it will take a beating which is why I rated it 3 stars as being somewhere in the middle.

I received the bar quickly. For the price compared to the others offered, I found this product to be heavy duty. Loaded it with plates, and then tried it out. Worked great, and continues to deliver!!! Maybe the bar isn''t the most pleasing to the eye, like a chrome bar you would see at a gym or club, but I didn''t need that. I lift in my basement, and my eqipment doesn''t need to impress anyone, it just has to be funtional, and work for me. If your workout area sounds like mine, purchase this bar, save money, and still get a quality, heavy duty bar.
