Nautilus T516 Treadmill

Nautilus T516 TreadmillI have been using this treadmill since Jan 03, 2010. It was delivered on a wood pallet and left in my driveway. It weighs around 220 lbs and you definitely need at least two if not three people to move this to whatever room you need to assemble it in. I''m 29 yrs old,6ft tall and 195lbs and I ordered this because I needed the treadmill to accommodate my stride at a full sprint and be able to support my weight. This treadmill has been able to do all of this with room to spare. This is a heavy duty treadmill and it provides a right amount of cushioning and dampens the impacts of running and my knees and ankles don''t take to much of a beating after my sessions. There are a couple of issues though that I don''t like about the treadmill. The treadmill makes an audible beep after every minute that you have been running. This is not a deal breaker but like many of you out there I try not to pay too much attention on the elapsed time and cover the display with a towel but that "beep" always lets me know that another minute just went by and it just annoys me that I can''t turn that off. Also, there are only five buttons for the speed selection, 2,4,6,8,10. It goes up a liitle faster than 10 but those are the buttons that are on the main display. I like to do interval training and run from 6.5 mph to 11.5 back and forth. So I have to do a lot of button pressing to achieve this. There are to many increments that this machine goes off of.For example at the gym treadmills to go from the previous stated speeds, 6.5 to 11.5 and back, from 6.5 i would just be able to punch in 1-1-.-5-enter and I am running at 11.5mph. On this treadmill from 6.5 to 11.5 I have to press, 10,enter,and manually increase the speed by a tenth of a mile from 10mph,10.1,10.2,10.3,10.4,10.5,10.6,10.7,etc. until I get to 11.5mph. So this is pretty tedious especially when I have been doing a couple of rounds and I''m getting tired. I probably wouldn''t have bought this treadmill if I had known about these two issues but the treadmill still gives me the ability to train on it aggressively and not have to worry that its going to break. Overall a good piece of gear.

We replaced our 15 yr. old NordicTrak with this Nautilus. I was having some tendonitis in my calves and Achilles on our NordicTrak that I contributed to old age (46yrs). I have not had any leg issues since I''ve used the Nautilus; I guess the cushioning of the NordicTrak was affecting me negatively. The Nautilus treadmill is extremely quiet so we don''t have to turn up the stereo. It has incredible range for speed and incline unlike many others. This is an incredible machine for the price!

Got the treadmill a few weeks ago and love it! It was easy to assemble, heavy, but we didn''t have any trouble. I use it for running and it is very solid. I like the fan because you can control the flow of air. It has many programs from which to choose. The ability to control the speed and incline from the handlebars is also a really nice feature. The only setback is that it is hard to move around.

Fantastic machine. I did my research before purchasing, and I very much enjoy it.

Pros:

1) Gym qualitywell-made and sturdy.

2) Easy to fold up and take down.

3) Very easy to use program, and easy to read display.

4) Fan for cooling, so nice!

5) Controls for speed and incline on the handles as well as the main console-now that I appreciate far more than I realized.

6) Storage for water bottles, iPods, remotes.

Cons:

1) Beeps every time it surpasses one minute. Can be quite distracting if you do not have something to watch/listen to while working out. Then again, if you''ve been to a regular gym, then you know they blast music or expect you to bring your own music. So, I would recommend doing the same so you don''t focus on the beepshelps you get through your work out faster.

2) It contains a piece of long, gray plastic that is unaccounted for in the instructions. It took me a minute or two to figure out, but it is for the back of the machine (walk board) where you would lift it to fold up. Now mind you, that piece is really not needed-reason being is that if you decide to put that piece on, you will have a much louder experience walking/running. I much prefer it without the piece attached-and I definitely recommend it as well. In conclusion: extra piece isn''t vital to the machine whatsoever.

3) Very, very heavy. Do not try to lift or drag on your own. And when it''s being delivered, have the room ready for wherever it''s going. You don''t want them just dropping it off in a garage or on the driveway for you.

4) All screws are included. However, the manual fails to mention that some are in the plastic bag with the tools, and some are actually already in the machine to be taken out and put back with parts attached. Big heads up on that.

Summary:

Fantastic machine, extremely easy to use. Tad bit rocky at the assembly stage, but all in all, extremely thrilled with the purchase. Looking forward to a healthier me this year. :)

I purchased my Nautilus T516 Treadmill back in mid-September.

Use: Three miles in the morning and three in the evenings, six days a week.

After using the treadmill for about one week it began making a really bad squeaking sound every time I took a step on it(similar to the squeaking sound a wooden staircase might make when used). The operation of the treadmill was never in question, it was just the terrible squeaking sound that was really upsetting me as this was a new treadmill. I contacted Nautilus and they suggested I lubricate the running board. After I explained to them that I had done that with silicon spray lubricant they then suggested that I replace the entire running board and rubber shock absorbers/dampers under the board or since I had just purchased it from Amazon, get a completely new replacement from Amazon.

I decided to return the treadmill to Amazon and have it replaced by a new one. Amazon sent me a new treadmill within one week, great service from Amazon.

After about 30 minutes of use, the treadmill began making the same squeaking sound that the returned T516 was making. I contacted Nautilus again and they sent me the replacement running board and rubber shock absorbers. I was pretty much left on my own to fix this issue, as I am a DIY kinda guy I went ahead with the repair (this was a difficult repair so if you are not a DIY kinda person without the right tools, then you are going to have a difficult time repairing this treadmill).

To others this experience would''ve been enough to completely trash this treadmill in a review. Not really being a delicate person, I''m going to give this treadmill Four Stars. I''ve been giving it a pounding since I got it (fixed it ... lol) and it has been running great. Overall it is well built and very heavy (about 220lbs). The running board (having seen it on and off the machine) is very thick, thicker than the running boards of most other treadmills, so you know it is built to last.

Overall it is a very good treadmill.
