These rings were priced right (the cheapest I found on Amazon), and they are grippy and seem sturdy. The straps seem adequate, but note that there is no buckle for hanging / adjusting them, so you have to supply your own buckle (or other mechanism) or be competent with knots. It appears that most of the other sets come with a buckle.

However, there is a significant odor issue. Before I even opened the cardboard wrapping they arrived in, I could detect a strong burnt rubber type smell. It''s reminiscent of a strong single malt Scotch, but not in a good way! After opening the package, the odor only got worse. Fortunately I had to hang them outside due to some remodeling, but when you get within a couple feet of them, you can smell it. The cardboard wrapping was initially placed in our recycling bin in our kitchen, but I had to move it outside because it was stinking up the kitchen! I hope the odor dissipates, but if it is still bad once I move the rings to an indoor location in a few weeks, I may have to ditch them and try a different set.

When I ordered these in early Oct 2011, shipping was free (fulfilled by Amazon and/or Prime). However, now as I write the review I see that shipping has gone to $23.73, nearly double the price of the rings! At that total price, there are other sets you should consider.

If you''re just looking for some cheap, strong rings, these will probably work, but you may be taking your chances with the odor.

Theses rings hard the worst smell ever. I tried to air them out but this very strong rubber smell just kept coming I hope the smell wears off! I have a studio that smells great and these are quite offensive !

product came very fast, and is great for the price. rings have a rubber coat that''s really nice, great deal. There are no buckles but all they need are some good knots.

These were the cheapest rings available. They are not as comfortable as wood, but they are exactly what I thought I was ordering. For the price, you could not get a better product.
