The Precor has been great. It''s quiet and easy to use.

I uploaded a little video of it.

It is very heavy so make sure that it''s delivered to the spot you want it.

Compared to other ellipticals I''ve used in the gym, this one is the best because it feels great, no over extension, easy to operate.

The problems I''ve had were a little knocking sound soon after using it. I found out that one of the bolts was a little loose. I probably didn''t tighten it enough.

Tightening the bolts made the noise go away.

The other issue is that it doesn''t have an automatic shutoff. It also can''t be turned off from the display panel.

You have to reach back all the way to the bottom of the machine to turn it off. So that''s the most annoying flaw it has.

Other than that, the training programs are good.

Make sure to measure your ceiling so you don''t put it in a spot that where you might hit your head if the ramp goes up. Where we have it in the basement, the ceiling is low, that''s why I bring it up.

We''ve had family come over and use it, and they like it as well.

Went to test one of these new "generation" Precors with the steel crossramp. Did not like it at all! The smoothness and fluid motion of the extruded aluminum was not there. This model was also not long enough stride for me even though I am 5''3". Buyer beware and try before you buy. Rated 2star because Precors crossramp is the best elliptical design, but the "new" metal ruins the experiance.

I chose a Precor because of the quality and reputation of the company, and I bought it from Amazon for the same reason. After you read the below you might come to the conclusion I have: Amazon might not be the place to buy this and/or that Precor is not a 5 star operation. While delivery was fine and it has only been 1 week, I''m writing this out of a bit of frustration with not being able to use my product yet and fear for when I do. When it arrived there were two things wrong the machine:

1) The wheels on the foot pedals had popped out of their tracks.

I was able to pop them back in with some force and this might not seem like a big deal, but frankly this is supposed to be a precision machine built to conform to your stride and movements. The instructions had nothing on that and its supposed to ship with them in the glide tracks and the pin locking them (my pin was out?). It probably has not impacted the machine, but who knows? With the amount of strides and stress that will be put on this that might affect the way it stands up over time. And if the metal or alignment changed just a little bit then even if I don''t visually notice a difference over a year or two of use who knows what impact that will have on my legs/body. When I spoke to customer support I had one person say they had never heard of that and another say they have seen it. Disconcerting either way.

2) There was a piece missing and the assembly guide was wrong/old the Ferrite was not in the packet.

My unit came with instructions that did not match what Precor usually sends out. It had different pieces and steps then what customer support eventually sent me. My unit was missing a ferrite box used to shield electromagnetic radiation that interferes with other devices. The guide I had said to use it, but it didn''t come in the box with the other pieces. The different guide version didn''t list the part, but indicated it was on the wires already. My unit has neither the part separately or on the wire. So I had to call customer service the first person had never heard of the part, the second realized we had different versions. I then had to call a service company to set up a time next week to come by, and then after assessing the problem they need to come by again just to fix this. Its covered by warrenty but what a pain. And I could probably fix it myself going to an electronics store...but that would void the warrenty.

So...I''m stuck here not using my elliptical and pretty frustrated. I think Amazon might have mixed and matched the units with different part kits ... or maybe my unit was a return at some point? No way to tell but in any case I expected a pristine working complete unit when I paid this kind of money, and whether it was Amzaon or Precor that''s responsible for the mix up/delay I''m frustrated. I would either buy from a local servicer or look for a different companies elliptical that ships complete matching kits.

I''ve used many Precor elliptical machines in gyms, but my current living situation makes it very difficult to get to the gym on a regular basis. I''ve used a lot of different brands of elliptical machines, and I am partial to Precor elliptical machines and their crossramp design. So, after doing some research on the home models available, I bought the 5.25 last December and I have been very happy with the purchase.

The delivery went smoothly. Amazon used a freight company to deliver it and they contacted me to set up a delivery time and everything went well when it was delivered.

I assembled it myself and it''s possible to put it together on your own if you''re a little handy, but it definitely would have been nice to have another person to help me. I was just too impatient to wait, and I ended up whacking my leg with parts of it as I was putting it together. However, in the end, I got it put together pretty easily.

After I got it put together, it has worked wonderfully. The stride length is a little shorter than the commercial models you see in gyms, but I''m 5''4" and it has not bothered me much at all. I like being able to adjust the cross-ramp without stopping the workout and having the moving handles, so this was a good model for me. I''ve been using it several times a week for the last 5 months and it has performed well. The workout is very similar to the workout I get on the commercial gym models, though the resistance levels seem to be measured differently. I do have to wipe the dust and dirt out of the wheel tracks occasionally, but other than that, I have not had to really do much maintenance with it.

The display is easy to read and displays similar, though not exactly the same, information as the commercial models do. The information is arranged a little differently than on the commercial model displays, but most of it is still there.

I''ve been very happy with my purchase and it''s been exactly what I wanted.

The Precor EFX 5.25 is a commercial quality elliptical fitness exercise machine for the home. It is billed as smaller to fit into your home, but it is longer than my treadmill and unlike the treadmill does not fold away. However, unlike the treadmill, on the EFX 5.25 you are working your entire body in a low-impact way that does not put stress on any joints or weak areas.

Make sure you think about where you want it delivered because you will need to do some of the assembly and it is not easily moved. Every tool you need to put the EFX 5.25 together was included. It took a little over an hour until the machine was up and running. I did have some help, but I could have done everything myself. The housing that covers the wheel assembly was damaged in transit so I had to call the company to get replacement parts. They were extremely helpful and promised to have them to me in a couple of days at no cost and basically no questions even when I told them that I had gotten the EFX through the Amazon Vine program. All the metal, paint, plastic pieces, rubber are high quality. It is obviously meant to last.

I am short and most ellipticals I have tried do not work for me because the stride is just too long and my knees are hyper-extended. The stride for this is shorter and slightly like a stair-stepper so I don''t have the extension problems. The handlebars were comfortable. I had a little trouble adjusting the CrossRamp angle because you have to be moving and holding the buttons at the same time to adjust it. I feel sure that after I have gotten used to using the elliptical that I will be more comfortable adjusting the angles. The elliptical makes no noticeable noise as you are exercising. There are two user inputs, several different exercise programs, and heart rate sensors. The monitor gives distance, time, calories, and the number of strides you make in a minute. I found it to be an easy machine to start using first thing.

I say "easy to use" but I must confess, that within half a mile I was feeling the burn. I used a basic program with a little resistance. I am a distance walker, I lift 40-pound bags of cattle feed weekly, and today I was working on rock landscaping. I am not someone who decided to "start" an exercise program, but this machine was using muscles that I don''t use in the normal day, so I can tell it will be good for cross training and for those days that I can''t train outdoors.

After several weeks of using it now I have to say I am in love with it. A few days and I was up to speed on a good program. There is a slight twist for me as I use the handlebars so it is working my core also. I am using it in addition to my usual distance walking. I think it is great.
