11/01/12 ... i just noticed that one reviewer said the shake weight is broken. i thought the same thing when i first tried to use mine ... therein lies the challenge! i found i had to really shake it very hard to get it to work, and my movements were quite spastic. with my muscle weakness, it is definitely giving me a workout, but i loosened the tension and did get it to work. it is getting easier daily. i can only do the front shakes, tho ... not the to-the-side shakes (so far). it took a lot of years for me to get this weak, so i don''t expect miracles overnight.received this today, seems to be what it says, i am however a little out of shape and it is a little harder than I expected, sure it will get eaiser as I do it dailyJust as my title says, this thing is ridiculously silly-looking to use. Luckily, it is fun to use... and it seems to work my upper arms (biceps, triceps, shoulders). I like the color, and the adjustment feature. I would say the shake weight takes isometric exercise to the next level. That being said, it is limited to that type of muscle training.
One important thing, to me anyway, is to remember not to tense my neck while using it. That is just something I have a tendency of doing while exercising. If that is you too, then keep it in mind.

I recently purchased the Shakeweight Pro and am incredibly satisfied with the results and ease (fairly) at which it has been to tone my upper body and build some muscle mass.6 minutes is manageable for pretty much anyone! Doing the workout with the accompanying DVD makes the time go by very quickly.
Mind you I purchased the ''man''s'' version, since I thought the ''woman''s'' version would be too light. After I initially toned up and started to build a little more muscle mass, I started alternating days, and the reduced use to 3 days a week to maintain a sleek upper body.
At 53, I was starting to see some flab on the back of my arms and back for which the Shakeweight did wonders. It took about 3 weeks to see some real results, but being able to wear no sleeves without being self-conscious is a true benefit.
6 minutes of upper body work-out is much more doable for me that let''s say a half hour on weight machines in the gym! I recommend this product very highly and have purchased several for family members who are also weight conscious and look for efficiency in their busy days.My wife told me her friend was using one of these Shakeweight''s and really likes it. After I stopped making fun of her, I offered to look it up on Amazon to see how much it was. We were waiting on Breakfast and I had it purchased before we saw our meals. She tried it out a few times and said it makes her feel like she is lifting weights, sort of. Then she did the 6 minute work out with the video that came with it. She loves it and she gets tired out in only 6 minutes. To give you an idea of her fitness she does Spin classes about 5 times a week and sometimes she will do a back to back class. I am sure after she does this for a while she will need to extend the workout or get the heavier Shakeweight.
