Sole Fitness F80 Folding Treadmill

Sole Fitness F80 Folding TreadmillI received this treadmill and it was packaged perfectly. The treadmill was very easy to put together. You can find a video online that shows you step by step on the assembly which made it even easier. The video wasn''t necessary, just more fun. I have only had the Treadmill together two days, but I already am very pleased. Quality is easily seen in this machine. When you put it together you get to see how it is made. Using this treadmill is a pleasure Very quiet and very smooth. It feels very sturdy on our posh carpet which was a concern to me. We read that the speakers weren''t very good, but I think they were wrong. Our I-pod sounds great on it. The width and length ( 22"x60") of the walking surface is really nice. Lots of

room to walk or run with comfort and safety. The 3 1/2 hp motor seems more than enough power to keep me moving without the slight bit of slowdown. Controls are easy to see and use especially like the buttons on the handrails for ease of use. Can''t say much more about this yet but for the price I think we got a winner with this one. ( I looked at everything available to me from $2000 and under clearly this was the best choice ) I don''t think you would be dissapointed buying this treadmill !

Update after 3 months: 3 months later and I am loving it! I listed some annoyances below with the software but nothing major. This treadmill is so quiet compared to the ones I used previously. It feels solid. My wife runs on it several times a week for a couple miles and she loves it as well. When friends come over and see this treadmill they are impressed as well with how smooth and quiet it operates.

I had this treadmill now for about 2 weeks. This is the new 2013 model with 3.5 HP.

Update: Still running great after another week. I did find 2 very annoying issues with the software however. When I am doing my workouts I typically do 5 minutes of running then pause my program while I do some weight lifting. Apparently your program will reset after a few minutes pause (maybe 4 -5 minutes). The other software issue I do not like is that when I want to change my running program I have to DELETE the entire program and start from scratch including putting in my name again. This was very poor insight by whomever designed the software. I might want to simply change the speed and incline on certain parts of my running program but instead have to spend another 5 minutes extra starting from scratch and I end up with a complete different program. I really hope they change the software in the future.

Shipping and Packaging and : Excellent. The delivery company was polite and on time. They even worked with me on when to deliver. I did call them ahead of time to try to arrange a time I would be at home otherwise I would have missed the drop off. Very helpful in getting the large box into my garage. The packing was very well done. Lots of extra padding to make sure the treadmill was well protected.

Assembly: Good. The online videos on Sole''s website are somewhat helpful although they would be even better if they were higher resolution so I could see a little more clearly. The directions were fairly uncomplicated and easy to understand. I do however have 2 issues with the assembly. 1 was figuring out which side of the handrails were right and left. I would think since they are nearly identical in shape it would be easy to confuse them. The only way I figured it out was that one side has more wire connections than the other. A simple sticker with Left or Right would have fixed this. The other issue I have with assembly is a design flaw. The recessed holes where screws go is so large and so deep that getting the screw in the right spot can be very difficult. Not sure why they didn''t make the holes a lot smaller so you don''t spend an extra 20 minutes attempting to get each screw in place perfectly. They could have also given longer screws with the same amount of thread on them to make it much easier too. Room for improvement here. Overall probably took about 3 assemble including the unpacking.

Operation: Excellent: Easy to operate. 2 user modes. I would have liked 3. A touch screen would also have been a nice touch. Overall all the controls feel durable and easy to use.

Quality: Outstanding:This treadmill feels very well built. The cushioning on my weak knee is excellent. The motor is very quiet. Everything about this treadmill appears to be sturdy and built to last.

Overall opinion. I am really glad I bought this treadmill over the nordic brand which I thought felt cheap for the same price. I will update after a year also to see if everything is still great.

Delivery went smoothly but if you''re going to place and assemble it yourself I would highly recommend having another man helping you. The box is very heavy (280 lbs) and is delivered on a double skid (80 lbs). Moving it into a house is a challenge for one man. Moving the treadmill Up or down stairs ? That''s best handled by professionals.

Assembly was fairly easy except that the handlebar covers could have been marked to easily identify right and left. I had to look at the orientation of the console assembly to determine the right and left handlebar covers. It pays to have another person holding the console when bolting it onto the the upright tubes. It''s awkward to handle for one person alone.

Don''t try to move the treadmill unless you have it in the folded position.

The 3.5 HP belt drive motor has all the power anyone could ever need and the belt is excellent quality and very quiet. The incline motor is also very quiet. The console is adequate and the buttons seem to be durable. The display itself is nothing to write home about but has all you need including the quarter mile track along with incline, time, speed, mileage, pace, heart rate and calories burned. The fans are rather weak and don''t push much air. They will give you a slight refreshing breeze but they will not cool you off like you might expect.

The audio input jack is a nice feature and connects to a MP3 player, radio, etc. The speakers are about what you would expect from a treadmill manufacturer. The sound is reasonable but is not high end.

The only problem I had with the electronics was with the receiver for the Heart chest strap transmitter. The strap transmitter was working fine but for some reason the heart rate was not being detected and was not displayed on the console. Without the proper functioning of the heart strap transmitter/receiver the heart rate programs HR1 & HR2 cannot be used. The heart rate is, however, detected and displayed with the pulse grip.

The heart rate programs were not a selling point for me so their functionality doesn''t concern me too much.

I have worked out on treadmills for over 10 years now and this 2013 Sole F80 treadmill is mechanically the best I have seen for a $1500 pricetag.

This treadmill is heavy duty, and I mean heavy. Shippers only bring it to the door. I brought it in and set it up myself. It''s wide and heavy. Put it in the room you plan to keep it in before you assemble it. I don''t believe I will ever get to use the fastest speed setting; the lower settings are all I need. I am glad I went with this model, as the wider belt has come in handy when I become distracted and step to the side occasionally. I tried to use the wireless heart rate monitor, but the computer wouldn''t let me push myself hard enough before slowing itself down, I probably need to read the instructions. I have no complaints.
