XMark XM-7629 Commercial FID Ab Versa Weight Bench

XMark XM-7629 Commercial FID Ab Versa Weight BenchSo I was looking for a nice FID bench for use with my dumbbells at home and I came across this X-Mark bench. When I purchased the bench, there were literally no reviews of this bench on the internet, but there was an X-Mark video of the bench being demo''d on Youtube. I thought the bench looked pretty good, so I decided to give it a shot.

I''m glad that I did. The bench came in a double-cardboard box within 4 days. Everything was well packed and undamaged, and as far as I can tell, there were no parts missing from the package (I used every part). Comes with all the tools needed to assemble as well, like a thin regular wrench and an allen wrench. I did, however, have 1 issue with one of the nylon lock nuts. I''m not sure if I stripped it somehow or if it was just a bad nut, but it wouldn''t tighten on any of the bolts, so I went to the local hardware store and picked up a replacement, no biggie really.

The definite Pros of the bench are that it is well-built, sturdy, and functions exactly as you would expect an FID bench to function. Great cushions/padding (they''re sorta angled or tapered near the bench''s seat and back rest joint which helps alleviate that "gap" or void you see with other benches), very easy to adjust, and it ain''t half bad looking either. More importantly, in my opinion, is that the Flat position is indeed flat. I noticed while watching the Youtube demo of the X-Mark Combo Bench (X-Mark 7628), which is the cousin to this Ab Versa Bench, that the Combo Bench''s flat position did not actually look flat. It seemed to be declined slightly. Whether or not that''s true for all the Combo Benches, I dunno, but the Ab Versa''s flat position does not have that issue.

I couldn''t find the information for how much weight this bench was rated for exactly, so I emailed X-Mark customer service, and they got back to me within a day. The customer service rep said that the bench was rated for 1000 lbs (just in case you wanted to know), and I don''t doubt that the bench can hold up to that kind of weight.

As for the not-so-perfect bits of this bench, I''d have to say that I''m a little disappointed in the rubber feet. They don''t seem to have quite enough grip or traction. The bench will slide relatively easily on a flat concrete surface or smooth rubber/foam surface. It''s not so bad that the bench is slipping and sliding on you all the time, but I believe that is mostly because the bench itself is on the heavier side. The feet being rubber might become more "grippy" with time, hopefully. Alternatively, you might be able to just cut or carve grooves into the bottom of the feet to give it "tread" or something, lol. Overall though, the bench won''t be moving on you when you''re actually on it. It just might slide a bit on you if you bump it at a weird angle.

Another thing you''ll be able to notice from the Youtube demo video, is that the bench seat will indeed rock a little up and down on you while doing decline crunch-type movements. It''s nothing to be worried over though, as it''s just how the seat adjustment system is designed. Since the seat incline is adjusted using the pop pin mechanism (the pop pin system makes adjustments super easy), the space within/between the hole and pin allows a little up and down movement of the seat. It in no way makes the bench less durable, but it was just something I noticed.

Other than those two things, the bench is very solid and well worth the money. Just make sure to assemble it well, and I expect it to last a long, long time.

Used for the first time today(chest), and man this thing is great. Padding is nice and supportive, the bench feels solid(weighs about 82 pounds), and it''s really adjustable. I''m 5''8" and this thing is low enough that I can have both feet flat on the ground. The seat does shake a little when you get in place, but that''s cause it''s adjustable. Definitely recommended for anyone working out at home.

I have been using my bench several times a day now for a good month and its definitely worth the money. Stable, sturdy, and of gym quality. The packaging on this was top notch. I was worried about getting this shipped because of the weight and size of product but the manufacturers really went the extra mile in realizing that having literally two boxes (a box within a box) really made this shippable in a way that you can feel safe and also I would imagine reduce their customer complaint calls. I can''t say the same for this other piece of fitness equipment from another manufacturer shipped in the same order. Hats off to XMark! 5 stars!

I was hesitant to order and Xmark bench because of reviews of similar benches by the same manufacturer noting that the bench was slightly declined when it was supposed to be flat. When I put mine together I had the same problem but I had put the metal bar that supports the back and headrest on upside down at the hinge. One I turned the bar the other way the bench was perfect. Phew!

It took about 1.5 hours to put it together by myself and the directions could have been clearer (there is only an exploded parts diagram, no words). But, overall this is a great quality bench that is exactly as described.
