JFit Health Club Step- Teal/Purple

Even though my gym uses the same brand of step, the quality of this step is nowhere near the quality of the step at my gym or my old Jane Fonda step from the mid 90s. I believe the step I received is used/refurbished. There are three reasons why I believe this.

1. The edge of the rubber mat looks like it was cut by hand it is not very smooth. The rubber mat on the top of the step was cut short leaving sticky residue at both ends. So when I lay on the step to use it as a weight bench, my hair sticks to the bench.

2. The rubber mat doesn''t fit well, so it was screwed into the bench. In my last 17 years of step aerobics, I have never used a ''new'' step with 20 screws holding down the rubber mat. I looked closely at the picture on the box, and there are no screws in the picture. I am concerned that the rubber will tear at the screws over time since the rubber mat does not fit properly.

3. There was tape covering words on the box; however, I could see through the tape. The words covered up say there was originally a workout video included and there was once a lifetime warranty. The box was obviously opened and the video and warranty papers were removed before shipment to me. If they were confident their repair would last, then they should warranty the step. But as far as I can tell there is no warranty of any kind on this product.

I have e-mailed J-Fit directly asking about these issues. Depending on their response, I will probably return this step to Amazon.

**UPDATE** J-Fit never answered my e-mail inquiry about the quality of their product. My theory is that they purchased warranty returns or items that did not pass quality inspections from The Step, repaired them and sold the products as new merchandise here on Amazon. I have returned the product to Amazon, and plan on buying a new step from another vendor.

I am taking a step class and wanted more practice at home. This is just like the one in my class. It does what it is supposed to do which is to provide me with a simple and easy way to exercise. It allows me the flexibility of using either one or two riser.

This is a great product. It''s the exact same step that is used in most gyms. It''s sturdy and you can adjust your height from no-step-2 steps. There is also a non-skid surface on the step and it''s easily stored. Great purchase-great value!

I ordered two of these for my personal training studio. I had previously ordered some from another manufacturer and needed a couple more, but the price had gone up with that manufacturer, so I found these by JFit. In the picture they look exactly like the others, and the price was just a little higher, so I ordered two. The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one is because, functionally speaking, they work as intended; however, they are so cheap looking compared to the first ones I got and they are NOT like the life-size picture on the box they came in. The black rubber is tacked on the sides (in the picture, it''s glued smooth like the first ones I got), and very poorly not smoothly (guess I should post a picture). On the top, the black rubber is not flush with the groove it''s supposed to be in, leaving the glue exposed and sticky. I can''t believe I actually paid more for these than for the first, high-quality ones I got. I am going to return them.

One of the black rubber grommets on a riser broke and the riser cracked. I am an experienced stepper, do not abuse the step and only 130 pounds. The product should not have broken after ten uses. I''m concerned about the quality of the product. That said, I really love having my own full-sized step to exercise in my home when it''s not convenient to go to the health club.
