Great foam roller, just like the one I''ve been using at the gym. The best start/end of my workout and has definitely loosened up my muscles before and after a run. Hurts like heck to use (like getting a deep tissue massage), but have been hooked on using a roller religiously for 2 years now. These SPRI foam rolls are made of EVA closed-cell foam (very similar to high-density polypropylene foam), making it lighter, stronger, and more durable against deformation. The non-porous foam surface also easily wipes clean after use.

Traditional open cell (polyethylene) foam can normally deform or even collapse under pressure. These are much more resistant to collapsing and are much stiffer as well. I have been told that my foam roll is less comfortable than the traditional type, but I personally prefer the extra stiffness.

I have also ridden foam bodyboards for a number of years (which use similar materials), so I have some prior experience with a few foam types.

This roller is high-quality, dense foam. It lasts an extremely long time therefore spending a little more money on one that isn''t super cheap, works out perfectly in the long run. I don''t know how this foam roller compares to that of other brands, but I do know that it''s fantastic (and not too stiff for my low-pain-threshold-taste). Just like the EVA foam rollers at the gym only nice and clean and no nicks and holes in the foam from abuse. Very expensive for a piece of foam but way better than the white foam rollers and I prefer the EVA foam over the black rollers. The SPRI has a slight texture to it and is very firm, more so than those at the gym possibly because it is new, but I am happy with it firmer. Arrived very quickly and other than the price, I am very happy with my SPRI EVA Foam Roller. Recommended!
