New! Brazil Butt Lift Master Series

New! Brazil Butt Lift Master SeriesI was able to purchase this a month before it was released to the general public through a friend who is a Beachbody coach. Perhaps it''s because I had such high expectations for the Master Series or perhaps it''s because I had been waiting over two years for this new set to come out, but, regardless of the reason, I''ve found that it doesn''t have the same "magic" to it that the original Brazil Butt Lift set has. For several reasons, which I''ll explain below, I''d give it 3 1/2 stars.

I have close to 300 workout DVDs (they''re rather an obsession of mine!), and yet in my vast collection, the original BBL series holds a special place. One of the things that makes BBL 1 special to me is that each time I do a month-long rotation with it, I not only start getting results within one week of doing the "too curvy" rotation, but I also love how fun it is to do. The original set doesn''t just contain your typical lunge/squat/deadlift-type leg workout; it draws on creative moves that target and tone your legs and glutes from all angles.

The new workouts in this Master Series, on the other hand, tend to use traditional leg exercises that I''ve got plenty of other leg workouts for. For instance, the Ipanema Booty workout has you do three sets of a lunge/squat/deadlift/floorwork pattern that just isn''t unique and is, frankly, a bit boring. I bought this set because I wanted something other than lunges and squats (since I already have plenty of workouts that have those), and this set didn''t deliver in that area.

This new series also lacks the interesting set that the first one contained. In all of these new workouts, Leandro is just working out with two background exercisers in what looks to be a living room or apartment loft. The scenes cut back and forth to two gals working out on the beach in the same style as the original series, but I prefer having a larger background group of exercisers.

It would also be great if this were available without the stability ball to bring down the cost. It''s a lot to pay for just three workouts, and I hated having to pay for a ball that I didn''t need. (Because I ordered this from a coach, I did get a bonus workout called Cardio Carnivale, but it was so tedious that I only did it once.)

The set, background exercisers, cost, and all that can be overlooked if the *results* are good, but this new set let me down in that area as well. As I mentioned above, each time I do a month-long rotation with BBL 1, I start seeing results within a week. I ended up following the "hybrid" rotation that comes with this set so that I could use it with my original set. (The package comes with two rotation schedules: one that uses just the new Master Series workouts and a "hybrid" schedule that uses the workouts from both the original series and the Master Series). It took me three full weeks to start noticing results from doing the hybrid rotation, and at the end of the month, I gained a half-inch in each thigh. (My thighs are my problem area, so I was not pleased with this; the original series usually slims my thighs down.)

I hate to be so negative, but my recommendation is that you''re much better off getting the original set if you don''t already have it. If you''re looking to change up your routine and are tired of doing the original BBL series so much (as I was), this is an alright addition to your collection, but just be aware of its limitations.

A great program for working those trouble areas! Additionally, the instructor is very entertaining. A fun program and it works!
