Gold''s Gym Trainer 410 Treadmill

Gold''s Gym Trainer 410 TreadmillWe purchased this machine on 2/16, brought it home and spent about 2.5 hours (taking our time) to put it together. It was cheap (Walmart for $349) and it''s definitely not the best quality. Several welds were poor and one screw was stripped already. But I knew I wasn''t buying a top of the line treadmill I just wanted something cheap and easy. We got it put together, but it was a "dud". The panel lights up, the clock starts, but nothing else works. The incline wouldn''t move, the belt wouldn''t move. The motor made a slight hum for a few seconds and that was the only sound we got out of it aside from the beep of buttons. We tried a few of the troubleshooting suggestions in the manual to no avail. Frustrating, to say the least.

I had to wait until today to call customer service (Icon Health & Fitness). I waited on hold for more than 25 minutes only to get a very rude customer service associate. I explained what happened and each thing I would respond with, he would get argumentative with me. It was a surreal phone call, to say the least. After a few minutes of this, I told him that I thought he was behaving rudely and he hung up on me. So, I called back and again waited more than 20 minutes for someone. The second agent wasn''t much friendlier and didn''t have a word to say when I explained that the fellow before him hung up on me. He walked me through some troubleshooting scenarios and determined that because the red LED on the motherboard/powerboard wasn''t flashing, that it wasn''t telling the motor to power on. But, the part was out of stock and would be three weeks before they could even ship it. I read a few horror stories about customers of theirs getting the run around for weeks and weeks until it was too late to return their items. So, I declined and am packing this up to take it back to Walmart. I will not be exchanging it nor waiting for eons for a part to show up. Not looking forward to disassembling it and lugging it back out there, but it has to be done.

Unfortunately, Icon Health and Fitness is the service center for most of the popular brands of fitness equipment, so I''m going to have a hard time finding a brand of treadmill that I won''t have to deal with them, but I don''t care how long it takes to find one. When will companies realize that good customer service breeds loyalty and positive word of mouth?

These would be a great treadmill but you need to buy ACL-SOL-50 high purity silicon oil from amazon to lubricate the treadmill belt every 50 miles of running through your treadmill in order not to break the control board. We used our 410 treadmill for almost 6 months without lubricating the treadmil belt until the treadmill was no longer functioning. I decided to order the parts which cost me $89.00. Now more than 1 year that we are using our treadmill without any single problem. If you don''t know the proper maintenance of the treadmill just watch videos from youtube. When you order the control board from the manufacturer it didn''t come with the warranty like any other electronic parts. Make sure that you will do the routine maintenance lubrication of the treadmill belt.

I ordered this from walmart.com. Picked up the order from the local store, it was really heavy, managed to take it down to the basement and unopened. There was no single plastic part that wasn''t broken!. This treadmill has very low quality plastic around it and can be easily broken. Put it back in the box and struggled to take it back up to the car. Walmart had 4 more of this item. But I wanted to open and make sure I was getting a non broken one. To my surprise 3 out of 4 were damaged badly. Took the one that was in good shape. Assembly took about 3 hours. Some part are not properly aligned, for example the display board wont get tightened and you will feel a loosen handle where the pulse gauge strip is located. The heart pulse gauge is way too off from curacy. The belt was off. Adjusted it but still going to one side. The display is ok. I have to keep a flash light to read the LCD display. The workout programs are buggy and erroneous. AN OK treadmill for walking. I wouldn''t recommend this for a runner.

I just bought this for 345.00 at Walmart!!!! ( it is on roll-back right now, from 377.00) The price here on Amazon is just TOOOOOOO high! The reviews on the Walmart site were very good, I saw no bad comments at all! I have it about 1/2 put together so far, will complete the assembly tomorrow. It was pack very securely and seems to be very well made. I will come back and give a more complete review after I have tried this out for a week or two.
