New Balance Men''s 5-Inch Tempo Short

Very comfortable, lightweight, moderately fitted & true to size running shorts. They''ve been a godsend in the recent mid 90''s humid heat wave. I like the 5" (small split) inseam since it is less constricting than my other skimpy running shorts; it allows freedom of leg movement without being limited only to running, they''re suitable for casual use. The interior key pocket is larger than most allowing for a key with or without a fob to be extracted without drama & the key won''t irritate while running. The on seam pockets work well to carry dog scat bags while running with man''s best friend. They are unobtrusive when not loaded. I''m 6ft tall, weigh 165lbs. with a 33in. waist & I run around a 6:15 min. pace for 4mile runs, 7 days a week. The medium fits me very well, not to blousy for my rather skinny 67 year old legs. I like the look of them on me & the ease of striding in them, I''m gonna get another pair or 2.

I have three other pairs of 5" running shorts (two Nike, one Brooks) and these are my favorite. I like the simple, all black style and the fact that it has two side pockets, something many running shorts lack. The innner brief is comfortable, just like the rest of the short. One great feature is the "In Case of Emergency" strip sewn into one of the pockets. It lets you write (recommend a permanent marker) emergency contact information, such as an emergency phone number, blood type, etc.

The only thing I wish this had was a zippered rear pocket. My Nike shorts has this and I find it very useful during a race to store either a single key or the keyless transmitter. Keeping it in one of the side pockets or the interior pouch just isn''t secure enough. Overall though, an excellent pair of running shorts at a fantastic price.

I really enjoy these shorts. The 5-inch shorts are a perfect length for longer runs, especially for marathon training. The short shorts are slightly embarrassing and the longer knee-length basketball shorts slow you down and have way too much cloth.

hey, were u thinking about using those pockets? think again. they are way too shallow. i wouldn''t entrust them to more than kleenex. cherished items are likely to make their escape if u do more than stand. the material is fine woven, silky and light weight. the elastic waist band is comfortably wide and snug. there is a draw cord and a little light up nb decal. pockets? if u want deep side pockets i suspect that''s going to be a problem with any short out seamed garment. otherwise the bottom of the pocket will hang below the hem. best solution iv''e seen: zippered back pocket.

I am 6''0". Have run distances of about 3 miles in them and done some stair runs. Comfortable. I''n not used to a brief style underwear, so the wedgies and riding were a bit irritating when stopped, but nothing bad. Just the right height off the knees. Material is great. I went in the steam room with these on and got them soaked, but they dried quickly when biking home from the gym. Pockets are nice. I generally snake my headphones under my shirt with my MP3 player in my pocket. I''ve even worn these with boxer briefs on and it still felt fine, though bunched up my underwear a bit. I felt that the pockets kept the device secure and deep, but not too deep as to bang against my leg. Also the pocket contains an "I.C.E." strip for emergency info, though it is a bit thin so make sure to have an extra fine point marker to write info on it.
