XMark Fitness XMat Ultra Thick Gym Flooring

XMark Fitness XMat Ultra Thick Gym FlooringI searched high and low for good quality rubber flooring... Not to say that these aren''t good, I mean they are, I used them and they work great. Buuuut you can buy "Rubber stall matting" for horses that is 100% pure rubber, 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick, and 4X6 feet for a fraction of the price (read, 1/4 of the price) of actual gym floor matting. The stuff is durable as get out (its meant for 1200 lb horses) and you can get it from any tractor/farm supply store. Just my 2 cents.

If you have been searching the internet trying to find 100% rubber half inch gym mats without breaking the bank, THESE ARE THEM!

I have to say I am more than pleased with this purchase. I bought two of these to throw down in my basement to use with my ironmaster equipment. I searched EVERYWHERE on the internet, and with my amazon prime account, I paid literally (calculating shipping and all) 100$ average LESS than I would have going with two of ANY other 1/2 inch pure rubber mat.

Reading the description (and even going to XMarks site and viewing the catalog) I was a bit skeptical about what these mats were made out of, because it doesn''t specify. Thought for the price (100$ with free shipping) that they would have to be some sort of weird foam/rubber blend. THEY ARE NOT! Heavy duty 100% rubber. Now my basement has that temporary nice fresh smell of new tire to go with the sweat! Haha

Each mat weighs around 70 lbs. Heavy duty. This is what you want!

We own three of these and they are the best mats we have ever purchased. They are made of ½ inch thick Rubber and they are 6 feet by 4 feet in size. They weigh 75 pounds and are extremely rugged and durable. They have a textured non slip surface. I have very heavy weight lifting equipment setting on two to them and they equally distribute the weight. They protect your floor and your expensive equipment at the same time.

I have 450 pounds of equipment sitting on two of these mats and they are on top of a carpeted concrete floor. These mats are so good that if you literally remove the equipment and the mat and then sweep the carpet you cannot even tell the equipment has been there for years. These things are the best I have found and they are high density and really distribute the weight and forces applied to them very nicely. I attached a photo of our set up in the basement for your review.

They are comfortable to walk on and durable. They look brand new after years of use. My mats did not emit an odor and perhaps that depends on how long after they are made you purchase them. Outstanding quality and I highly recommend these to you!

I would recommend that u purchase 2 small square soft mates support for your bar to set on if your planning to play heavy dead left or bent over row for extra safe not to break the tile below those mates.

I agree with the other reviewers that these are sturdy mats very suitable for the purpose of protecting the floor of a home gym. I have ordered 7 of these and 4 of the 7 seem virtually perfect. The other three have issues from minor to troublesome.

Two of the seven have slight waves when lying upright. The mats seemed to have been stored rolled up in the cartons and perhaps that resulted in these curls. Even after being flat on the floor of my gym for almost a month, the waves persist causing the edges to buldge up on one of the long sides by about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. They seem to behave better when placed upside down but then the embossed ''tread'' is less sharp.

One of the seven was broken right out of the box (this one also has a wave to it as described above). There is no way to know if this occurred during shipping but the box was reasonably intact. (Imagine yourself as an extremely heavy 4 x 1 x 1 foot box and you will expect to be tugged around and dropped a few times when shipped by UPS.) The break was through and through, about half-way across the mat, parallel to and centered between the short sides of the mat. Fortunately for me, this last mat was destined to be cut into smaller pieces to fill odd spaces, so I expect that in the end this will not matter a great deal. However if this were the only one that I had planned on purchasing, I can only imagine the difficulties and expense in repacking and shipping back to Amazon.

Despite their weight, the pieces do seem to migrate a bit over the carpet. I''ve bought heavy duty velcro hook take to help with this and time will tell if this is a good solution.

The pieces seem ever so slightly off square. Enough that lining them up like tiles without the carpet showing between has not yet proved successful.

Despite these mostly minor flaws they do perform as expected and even the one with the two foot break will be almost fully functional.

Update: several months later, I am happy to report that the mats are lying flat and the super Velcro tape keeps them fully aligned.
