Diamondback Fitness 910Ub Upright Exercise Bike

Diamondback Fitness 910Ub Upright Exercise BikeAfter reading reviews and also being very satisfied with a Diamondback recumbent purchased years ago I ordered this online without seeing and trying one first, this proved to be a mistake. I didn''t buy this through Amazon but is where I got many of the all positive reviews.

In no particular order here are my criticisms.

Uncomfortable seat, you sit on two hard lumps. I folded a heavy towel to put on it at first and ultimately installed a different seat to be able to ride for more than a couple minutes.

Seat adjustments, never did find the perfect position or even come close, it is limited to one inch height increments and didn''t go back far enough to suit me. Seat height adjustment knob sticks out too far and I frequently bumped it with my leg or ankle while riding.

This bike is not self powered, it uses a large "wall wart" transformer, this power block runs quite warm even when bike is not being used so it is constantly sucking juice. The power cord is only 6'' long and plugs into the front of the bike below the control panel, many users will need to use an extension cord to connect to the power block and lay the block on the floor if they want to have their bike facing away from the wall.

All 4 ends of the handlebars were misalligned, this made it awkward and uncomfortable to use and looked stupid, one side was so far off level that my elbow kept sliding off the edge. Everyone who saw this machine commented on deformed handlebars (are those supposed to be like that?) Since there was no damage to the packaging it appears to have been a manufacturing and quality control issue at the Chinese factory. Tech support at Diamondback said this was "within spec" and refused to replace them, this is what ultimately prompted me to return the bike.

Handlebar adjustment mount is not sturdy, you have to super tighten it to keep the bars from moving and doesn''t feel like it will hold up over time, the slim bolt will eventually break.

Built in fan, this is only there so they can advertise that it has a built in fan, it is noisy and doesn''t move much air, unless your face is right on the control panel it is useless.

Speakers and iPod slot, these are only there so they can advertise it has speakers and an iPod slot, these are as useful as the built in fan, most if not all users will be much happier with the sound quality of ear buds and will keep the pod in their pocket.

Insufficient resistance, I''m only a recreational biker, in good shape but certainly not a pro, I found that this machine did not give me a sufficient satisfying workout even at the maximum settings.

Excessive frame flex, significant wobble while riding at high resistance settings, it feels flimsy.

Appearance, paper stickers and sheet metal emblem look cheap but this is what you get in this price range, I realize this is nitpicking but it stands out.

This is probably an ok bike for light duty occasional use, it offers a lot of features for the price but I re-re-learned that you get what you pay for (why do I keep doing this?) I ended up returning it and spending three times as much for a high quality machine from a different manufacturer.

Try before you buy and do a full workout if possible.

I wanted this bike the second I saw it online and I searched and searched for a review and could not find one, I finally broke down and bought it blindly, I don''t like leaving long reviews but I will be as informative as possible. First, I ordered this on amazon.com and it was shipped from csn stores, that is another story but I never received the product, had to do an a to z refund and I reordered from amazon direct. First, the product finally arrived damaged, there is a U shaped plastic silver piece that you have to attach to the bike and it was broken in half. I used rubber cement to glue it back together, there is still a visible black line down the center but I''d rather not deal with the drama of sending it back. Secondly, the front stabilizer comes with a brace screwed in so it doesn''t bend, the rear stabilizer did not and it was completely bent on one side, my boyfriend had to use tools to bend it back and after we could fit in the screws through the holes we just tightened and tightened until it bent back into the correct position. Other than that the bike went together fine, it took about 2 hours from start to finish with two people. One positive thing is that there IS a wheel on the front bottom so it''s easier to move around the room, everything I read online says that there isn''t a wheel, so I was pretty glad about that. One of the main reasons I bought the 910ub as opposed to the 510ub was because of all the iPod compatibility hype.......this is incorrect!!!!! You can attach your iPod/iPad to the bike and it will charge it, HOWEVER, the sound will not come from the speaker on the bike, but only from the speaker on your iPod. If you want the sound to come out of the speaker on the bike you must use a cord to plug into the iPod and into the port on the bike, which means you have to lay the iPod on it''s side since the hole is on the BOTTOM of the iPod. Totally lame and inconvenient. There are many preset programs on this bike but I find myself using the 5k feature the most and setting my own resistance levels, I tried the heart rate programs and I felt that the intensity was too much for me and it made me not want to use the bike. I purchased the polar t31 chest strap and I still have not been able to get it to sync with the bike but I have a polar ft60 that I regularly wear when working out and I just stick to that. However, the hand sensors on the bike are great, you can touch anywhere on the handles, not just the metal sensors and it will pick up your HR and it is very accurate and usually always in sync with my polar receiver. The fan isn''t very useful, but I didn''t expect it to be and I never use it, I have a fan set up next to my bike and that''s what I use for a breeze. The bike is extremely quiet so I can bike at any time which is great because I live in a second floor condo and I am always worried about exercising at home too late and disturbing my neighbors. The seat is pretty comfortable for a bike, I had to adjust it several times to get it just right but I can ride for 30 to 45 min and it''s not super uncomfortable. It doesn''t take up a lot of room in my computer room which is great since I don''t have a ton of space to work with and it is definitely a very stylish exercise machine. Bottom line, if I could do it again I would still buy a bike but I would have gotten the 510ub, yes this one has some extra features but they are ones that I do not use. I am a 27F 120lbs, pretty good shape, active lifestyle, just wanted a little something to get extra cardio into my day. This bike makes me want to get on it, I just wish I saved a couple hundred bucks for the other model. Any questions, feel free to ask.

This bike has been great for the past 2 months. We have been using it as the weather gets colder here in NorthWestern PA. All of the bikes features work well, though I would not count on the fan to keep you cool. My girlfriend uses her IPOD on a dock instead of the bike. The resistance works well and the bike adjusts easily between the two of us. No complaints here, we were able to get the bike on sale w/ free shipping so, for now, we believe it was a great investment. Would definitely recommend this product to friends and family.

I would buy this again. I bought proform bike first but the the digital display went out of it right after the 90 day warrenty expired. The cost of fixing the display was more than i paid for the bike. I should have paid the extra money up front on a produt that was going to last. You get what you pay for...at least in this case! This bike is supper quite and does all i need it to do. Great product!

This Bike is great, it is really quiet and has plenty of options to choose from. You need to use a cable from you iPod to get Music in the built in Speakers. There was initially a problem when I first put it together, there was no resistance in the paddles and the bike did not work. I tried to get it repaired by a local Diamondback dealer for a few weeks, without success. When I contacted Amazon to get it repaired on warranty I was amazed how quick the problem was resolved. Within 2 days I got a new Bike shipped to my house and I could ship the failing Bike back for free with UPS. Excellent warranty support! Thanks Amazon! :)
