Buy SKLZ Speed Resistance Training Parachute Now
Easy to don/doff. Creates nice resistance while running.... but it is very flimsy; ripped twice in first month of use. Got tired of sewing it, so we don''t use it anymore. Will look for something more sturdy.Would not buy again.

Parachute training is a good way to motivate kids and younger athletes to work out, but serious athletes don''t use it, and for good reason.Firstly, the resistance is variable and unpredictable. The amount of wind as well as the angle at which the wind is blowing cannot be controlled, so you have no way of knowing how much resistance you are getting in a single repeat, much less keeping it consistent from repeat to repeat. Even within a run, the amount of resistance can increase or decrease if the wind suddenly changes.
Secondly, the amount of resistance provided by speed training parachutes may be too great. You should only add resistance up to the level at which you can maintain your normal sprinting form for this type of training to be effective. For most people this is about 10% of your body weight. You never see people with parachutes running naturally and this is part of the reason why.
If you want to add resistance to your sprints, I would use a weighted sled instead. This way you can better control how much resistance you are working against.

I''m writing this after using it once. I should also mention that I had brain surgery 3 years ago, so I''m not as fast as I used to be.The resistance on this is decent. I wish it was more, but I''m sure I would need to buy a more expensive one if I want more resistance. You don''t have to run very fast to get the chute to open up. I''m pretty sure it will open after your first 2 steps into a run/sprint.
I''ll prolly buy a more expensive one later down the road, when I can run faster. I would say that this is good for a beginner like me. If you''ve been running for a while, I wouldn''t recommend this one.
