Weslo Cadence G-40 Treadmill

We had a Weslo CS200 before this which cost $200 and worked well for 7 years until the motor burned out. The old model had only a 13" belt, but was very compact. In addition, the old one was made in the US!

Pros of the G-40:

Appears to be well made

Digital display has large graphics

Very quiet (compared to old model)

Powerful 2.25 HP motor

Easy to set up

Good instructions

Hardware separated and clearly marked

Wider 16" walking belt

Cons of G-40

Safety foot rails a little too narrow

Digital display needs a backlight

The eight feet that support the treadmill are hard plastic and will scratch floor.

Warranty is ONLY 90 days

This model is made in China (not sure if a con we''ll see if it lasts)

Handrails should have a thick (soft) foam cover on the ends to protect from bruises when swinging arms!

Update: 11/8/12

My wife and I still use this treadmill every day for 20 minutes each. I do not run on it but do walk at 3.5 mph and it is still working like new!

The Weslo Cadence G-40 Treadmill is a quiet, well built machine. The range of difficulty is excellent for the beginner (me), to the "in best shape" user. As a middle aged person, it has been a perfect tool to get in better shape, slowly, and with fun. However, the assembly was a torture. They made it sound that it come almost completely assembled and ready to go....wrong. Assembly required a lot of tubing, screws, washers, etc. to be assembled with a small allen wrench and required a lot of torque. This can be difficult with a little allen wrench. All in all, once its together, it''s a very nice treadmill for almost all ages and shapes.

Purchased this treadmill 1 year ago, after 3 weeks the display went out. They sent a repair guy out who confimed console was bad. Received new console for free, still on warranty. I installed, it worked fine for several months. Eight months later (after warranty had long expired)console went out again, replacment console too expensive. Very disappointed, I do not recommend this product.

CADENCE BY WESLO IS THE WORST OF ANY FITNESS PRODUCT. THE MOTOR BLEW UP AFTER 5 WEEKS USE. THE ELECTRONICS CONSOLE WENT OUT MANY TIMES. THE TREADMILL BROKE MANY TIMES. I WAS ABLE TO GET AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT WAS STILL A PROBLEM. I BOUGHT 2 GOOD ONES SINCE THEN FROM OTHER COMPANIES. I SOLD MY CADECE BY WESLO FOR ABOUT 5 % OF WHAT I PAID AND IT STARTED SMOKING. THE CHECK BOUNCED.
