Stott Pilates Walk On To Weight Loss DVD

Stott Pilates Walk On To Weight Loss DVDI''m a Stott Pilates instructor, and I love this DVD (and the other weight-loss products from Stott). The concept is similar to Leslie Sansone''s home walking--very simple aerobics designed to burn calories, rather than challenge coordination too much. Some people will find them too simple, but I really like the atmosphere--the instructors are down-to-earth and grown up, and they bring just the right attention to form and alignment.

Pilates appeals to many people, and if you''re someone who''s attracted to Pilates because you''re not a gym bunny, you''ll probably love this no-nonsense approach. It''s very achievable and it works.

I am not much of a Pilates person, but I do use lots of walking routines on DVD. This is one of the better walks, in that it consists of simple steps and arm movements which are built upon to increase intensity and raise the heart rate. The 45 minute routine passes quickly, and I felt that I had worked both upper and lower body in an intense and energizing manner. The instructor is pleasant without grating, she cues very well, and she encourages you to test your own limits. It is easy to maintain proper posture and alignment while following the routine, and the arm movements, which differ slightly from other routines I have tried, work the shoulders and back in a very pleasant manner. I highly recomment this DVD, along with Debbie Rocker''s Walking for Weight Loss. They are a bit more vigorous than Leslie Sansone and Prevention''s Chris Freytag walking programs. It''s good to alternate the various walks over the course of the week.

I enjoyed this 45-minute walking workout. PJ leads five other exercisers in walking, heel digs, hamstring curls, knee lifts, and kicks, along with some upper body work (hands over head and back down, etc.) to increase the intensity. I enjoy this type of walking workout -no spins, turns, plyo-jumps, etc. -just a straightforward way to work your heart and body for positive health benefits. PJ says we''ve walked three miles, and this seems right to me compared to other walking workouts I''ve done (ala Leslie.) She makes sure to cool you down at the end as well, and takes you through some nice stretches. I also enjoyed the low-key, jazzy piano music, which is different from many other workouts I own. Loud, dancey music has its place, but this is definitely a nice change of pace pun unintended!

I am over 50 years old and needed a workout that was easy on my joints but still fun and would make me sweat without getting out of breath. This one did it all. I love it. The only problem is the menu setup too many screens before you can start the workout portion. If it were not for all of the DVD screens, I would have rated this 5 stars.

I have been using low-impact cardio DVDs due to recent shoulder surgery and a nasty bout with plantar fasciitis. This workout is long enough to work up a sweat (50 minutes) and is easily modified. P.J. O''Clair cues very well so the transitions are smooth. The moves are pretty basic so someone who enjoys complex choreography would probably find the workout somewhat repetitive and not challenging enough. This was a good purchase for me at this point in my workout journey.
