I''ve been dealing with complications from a back injury for over 10 years and in all that time, I have been searching for a way to safely exercise my muscles without aggravating my condition. After trying everything from Yoga to Tai Chi and Chi Gung systems, I think I''ve finally found it.

The Bodyblade is so well designed, it''s pretty much the safest exercise tool I''ve ever seen. For one thing, it only weighs about 2 pounds and can only provide as much resistance as you can produce at any given moment. If your arms suddenly get tired or if you start to use it incorrectly, it automatically stops moving which instantly ends the resistance. In other words, with the Bodyblade, you are your own spotter. Learning to use this device is highly self-intuitive and it''s virtually impossible to use it incorrectly.

The Bodyblade can only do what your body body can do. So if you''re in great shape, I imagine it can provide all the challenge you want and then some. But if you''re in a weakened condition like me, it will only provide a light level of resistance for as long as you can comfortably continue. Right now, I''m only using it for about 2-5 minutes a day. But the great thing is, in just a few minutes I feel like my WHOLE BODY got a nice, light workout, just right for my current level of ability.

I mean, I have spent YEARS trying to figure out a way to safely workout my abs without hurting my back. With the Bodyblade, I can feel my abs, arms, chest, buttocks, and thighs all getting a workout just by standing and holding it in my hands while shaking it side-to-side or up-and-down for about 60 seconds at a time.

It feels great to get such a complete workout so quickly. And there''s something about the way it requires my full attention in order to keep it in motion that makes it actually fun to use. This isn''t the kind of exercise you can do while zoning out and watching TV. But personally, I think that''s a good thing. I''d rather be fully into my workout for 5 minutes a day, then doing boring, zombie workouts in front of the TV for 30 or 60 minutes a day.

In additon to the Bodyblade itself, the instructional DVD that comes with it is highly informative and really only needs to be watched once or twice to get a full understanding of how to the Bodyblade works. After that, an occasional glance at the Wall Chart should be enough to keep even the fittest athletes busy.

Aslo, even if you''re not a physical therapist, I recommend watching the section meant for P.T.''s just because it''s pretty amazing to see all the ways the designer has figured out how to use this thing! It really is the most versatile exercise tool I''ve ever seen and I''ve spent my fair share of time in physical rehab centers...

Fell in love with this device instantly and will be using it for many years. However there are things purchasers should know ahead of time:

1. There is no product support. Once you have it, you''re on your own, as the company will not respond to any questions or communications.

2. It takes a little coordination to get it working properly, and it can take a little time to get it right. Don''t be surprised if your first few sessions leave you with sore wrists and forearms and not much else (holding it too tight, haven''t found the grip that works for you) or with kinks in your neck or shoulder (angle is off, user is tensing up too much, or holding breath). Keep playing with it and those problems will gradually disappear.

3. Regardless of how they label the exercises ("ab crunch" for example) your arms and shoulders are doing all the work, with other muscles just being used to stabilize you against the oscillation. So any benefit to your other muscles is entirely dependent on how long your arms and shoulders can maintain the exercise. My shoulders generally give out long before I feel it in the abs. The exception would be some of the leg toners where the side to side oscillation really forces you to use your legs.

I have been using this product for many years. I bought it when they had an informercial on T.V. I''m not quite sure they don''t sell it on t.v. any longer. The one hour commercial really got me interested, but my hopes were not high. As with many things sold on informercials I was very skeptical to say the least.

Let me tell you this thing replaces an entire gym workout. My wife, daughter and friends laughed when they saw me doing it. For the record it does look silly. However, when I handed it over to them, they were amazed how they had that pumped feeling in their muscles and many couldn''t even last the recommended minute on each exercise.

Some people might need a little time to learn how to use it, but it really is easy and the simple six (which is what they call their six minute workout) is all I do 4 times a week.

People are always amazed when I tell them I don''t lift weights and this is all I do. I look like a guy who spends hours at the gym. I watch my diet, do the Body Blade and walk as much as possible and that is all the time I spend on working out.

I first used a Body Blade in recent physical therapy I quickly saw that it was one of the most innovative exercise devices I''ve seen. It comes with a poster showing the wide variety of exercise routines for which it is beneficial. It works muscle groups that are otherwise hard to trigger voluntarily, and is especially good for improving core muscle strength and balance (when used with a balance disk or beam highly recommended). Also, it is difficult to overstress muscle groups because of the unique way this works. It is easy to carry on business trips, providing a way of exercising in motel rooms and at odd times when the gym is not the best place to go.

I starting using the BodyBlade Classic (4ft) model in physical therapy for my shoulder (bicep tendonitis). While I can''t comment on using the device for overall fitness, it is a good workout for shoulder stabilization and muscle coordination. You will feel sore from it (which is a good sign). I purchased the Pro (5ft) model figuring I''d work up to more challenging use. I noticed is a bit more challenging, so bare this in mind if you''re using the BodyBlade for rehab purposes, you may wish to select one of the easier models until you''ve worked up to it.
