Everlast Teddy Atlas Uppercut Heavy Bag (100-Pound)

Everlast Teddy Atlas Uppercut Heavy BagLength:: 3:25 Mins

the bag is softer than the one i was used to, especially the top half, and the numbers have raised edges that can cut your knuckles up so wrap your hands (you should do it anyway to stabilize your wrists for the angles, even if you have boxed for many years). the bag surface is a textured vinyl and i was concerned about the seams. it was supposed to come with a teddy atlas cd explaining how he uses the numbers. there is a picture on the box of the cd with an explanation of what the cd covers. instead, there was a cd in the box with michael olajide talking about skipping rope and using the medicine ball, etc, which is useless to someone who has boxed before, especially with respect to this specific bag, which makes no sense to buy without the cd. i explained to everlast which CD was supposed to come with the bag (atlas) and which one i received (olajide) and they promised to send the right one, then sent the olajide CD 2 more times before i returned the bag. this angle bag is not round like every other angle bag i have hit. it is essentially two sided so you have to keep one of the two sides with the numbers facing you, which is not practical for hitting. i recomend just buying a normal angle bag.

The accompanying CD of Teddy barking orders at you is very good for a work-out. After 8 rounds your heart & lungs are going and you feel great. The problem is with the bag itself. It''s a great shape and the number system is really good but the bag isn''t hard wearing enough. The link at the bottom of the bag that''s connected to a rubber tether broke away after a week and I''ve had to tie a belt around the base to keep it tethered to the floor. It must be tethered to the floor to do the work-outs effectively. Then after about 24 months my bag split at the side from upper-cuts. I am rough with it and use it at least once a week but I have another puch-bag that''s over 10 years old that''s still in good condition. After saying all that, I''m actually going to buy another one even though the tether will break and I''ll probably only get another couple of years out of it!

The bag I received had basically no outward angle at all. You could barely throw an angled uppercut/hook that would catch where the bag is supposed to protrude outward. The number system is made from cheap flimsy material and was already torn on the points. The number system would not last two months before tearing completely off. The bag appeared to be understuffed since the top portion of the bag was loose. Even stuffed properly or fully, it would still not have the necessaey protrusion to throw a true uppercut. Everlast used to be THE name in bags and gear, but there are many other companies now with superior quality products and pricing. Very disappointed with this purchase ans will be returning it immediately. I would suggest a quality round headbag if you desire to throw an actual uppercut. I was hoping to have a bag that I could go to the body on as well as throw body/uppercut combos on. Good idea.....poor execution.

It works for upper cuts. About two months into it the vinyl starting pealing off. Now Everlast stood behind it and send me another one. That is why I gave it four stars. Have to wait and see if the replacement peals or not. It is a very good bag for upper cuts and all round heavy bag work. If you have not hit a heavy bag the DVD that comes with will get you started with some decent workouts.

As a intermediate level martial arts instructor I thought this might be a little gimmicky but was surprised. I found the bag shape to be awesome and the accompanying instructions helpful.
